An episode of Classic Concentration, originally aired on 11/26/1990, complete with commercials that was re-shown on 1/14/1993 at 11:30am on WBZ-TV 4 Boston. Another VHS Find.. Enjoy!

I noticed here when the 2 strikes rule was brought back, the Car Round clock was set at 35 seconds each time a new champ was crowned, whether a car was won or not the in previous Winner's Circle round. I wonder how long that lasted.

I think the airdate here for the rerun is the week of 1/11-1/15, as they mention the Mariel Hemingway movie that aired originally on 1/18/1993 as airing on MOnday.

Hmm the newscast on the same tape (and day, as it follows Classic Concentration) references MLK which is why I thought it was Monday. But I could be wrong & happy to update.

I did a little digging using the newscast on the tape, and it looks like this day is Thursday, January 14th 1993. Found an article that references the press conference in the news cast. I'll update things. Thank youuuu for your help in nailing it down.

Why did they show reruns of this show for more than two years after it was cancelled? Why not just continue airing new episodes?

The show was effectively cancelled in September of 1991. NBC just continued to air reruns to fill in time. It was on at 11am, which was a hard time slot to fill due to The Price is Right being on at the same time. After many of the game shows ended in the late 80s, NBC filled the 10-12 block with reruns for lack of anything better.

@@mstdn I don't understand why game shows aren't on anymore. It sounded like NBC had a very successful lineup with this, Sale of the Century, Scrabble, Super Password and Wheel of Fortune.

@@mitchellries256 $$$ Game Shows cost a lot and require sponsors. Its a lot cheaper for the network to make news personalities stay on the air for 3 more hours than it is to sponsor a game show. Also around that time, talk shows were hot & replacing morning game shows. Sad but true. I think the only reason why TPIR is still on is b/c of nostalgia. Not that it is a big draw for CBS.

@@mstdn I am just saying I'd pick game shows over talk shows any day because it's fun to play along and test your own knowledge and it's always exciting to see how much contestants could win. I don't even watch The Price Is Right now because it was better with Bob Barker and it was also more exciting with all those other games that aired along with it throughout the years like The Joker's Wild, Gambit, Pyramid, Whew, Press Your Luck, Now You See It, Card Sharks, Tattletales and Match Game just to name a few.

this is gotta be from sometime in later 1990 bc it has two strikes 2.0 whitch debut on july 2nd 1990

@@mstdn This episode originally aired on November 26, 1990. Two preemptions; one on 11/22 and 11/23. I have episode guides that I'm doing on the Goodson-Todman Wiki.

Not debuted. But brought back. It experimented with this ruling in Early 1988. However, for me, the 2 out of 3 match per episode was THE BEST & THE HEYDAY of this show.
