Watching this back after b&m started churning out new characters and monsters is actually really amazing, to think only nearly three years ago we thought the future of the range was some repaints (if that) is insane. And now we have Sensorites! And Benton and Yates! And Romanas! And TV movie da- I mean mechanus Daleks 😂

I've been a Doctor Who Action Figure collector for as long as I can remember being into Doctor Who when the toy line was first released in 2005 when it started. A lot of figures I didn't have back within the classic Doctor Who Range and I collect more and more each day, even to paying through the nose for some older classic figures from some friends who have extras they want to sell, and Afflecks Palace in Manchester is one of the other places I source a lot of my Doctor Who Figures, with the exception of the new B&M line with the new updated Sontarans, Cybermen and Tardis'. I'd sad to say I spent quite a few years collecting the new and older figures. I still have yet to buy a 13th Doctor! But I am definitely happy with what I do have, no matter how limited it may be. I remember wanting some classic Daleks for a long time. I ended up getting the Second Dalek collectors set in 2013, and it was my first ever taster of Classic Daleks. I had gone to a Fair in Wales (I can't remember the name of it now) with my now ex-girlfriend. I had £10 on me and I remember feeling distraught that I couldn't buy it as it was priced at £15. I only have her parents to thank for lending me a £5 note to let me rush over and buy it as quick as possible. I now own a lot more of the Classic Series. My first ever figure, I bought at a Tesco in 2008, the 4th Doctor. Some time later that year, the 5th Doctor. I never got the original 6th Doctor, and to this day still can't FIGURE out why. (Okay that was a bad pun) Infact a lot of the original series I never ended up getting, and I still need to complete my K1 ROBOT! Yeah, thats probably not going to happen now. But after years of searching Ebay and finding different places to source my figures from, I now have Zygons, Mummies, Classic Daleks, Classic Cybermen (Oh boy! I still remember getting my first! The Earthshock in 2009 I believe, maybe 2010.) Unlike yourself, I didn't really get a-lot of money around that age, especially as I was just transferring to my teens so as a student, I couldn't afford a lot of what you have. But I am looking for places to buy then and I have people willing to sell me their spares. It certainly has been a great time to be a classic Doctor Who Figure Collector.

What an excellent video! I went in thinking it would be a retrospective review of the figures themselves, but this was much more interesting! Loved learning about the history of the classic figure range and this first wave. I was slightly too young to be interested in the classic era when this first wave came out, but it sounds like it was a very exciting time!

Somehow I missed this wonderful nostalgia fest and am just now viewing it...what a wonderful trip down the fantastic introduction of REAL Doctor Who action figures to the world FINALLY! It's fantastic and all I can say is it needs a Follow Up to bring it current AND a dedication to keep it so with each new wave, perhaps addi VA volume # with each new wave or year/substantial addition of figures. I mean tneCompanions of the 4th Doctor Set has perhaps the most universally awaited figures that it simply has to be referenced and added! :-) Great work as always, and you were far too modest about your action figure stories - they were truly well written with gripping exciting stories that rivalled and at times excelled their TV counter parts! And the stop motion figures works far better than I'd ever believe possible - I swear I lose myself in them more so than the animations even! Well done sir!!!!

It saddens me that DW merch will never see this level of popularity again (even if this new era does succeed). *Sobs*

Blimey 10 years?! How time flies! Out of all these figures I own a dead planet dalek, two chase Daleks, the saucer pilot Dalek, the emperors guard dalek, the gold supreme dalek, the Genesis Dalek, a mechanoid and 60s cybermen including the controller. Quite small compared to other fans but they look so awesome on the shelves!

These spearheaded my love for classic who, after seeing them in the shops and then became really interested in who the hell is d-84

That first wave of classic figures was awesome! I always wanted toys of this standard from classic who for years and thought we had to settle for the dapol ones instead, best thing about modern who is that it got these figures made for us, the master Delgado is my favourite figure, what's everyone else's?

Since my comment two years ago commenting on what I got, oh boy my classic range has really grown. I now have the majority of the B&M stuff, along with a lot of classic sets since, such as Castrovalva, The Seeds Of Doom, Remembrance Of The Daleks (all three sets) etc etc. It’s been a ride and I still collect more to this day.

When i was a kid i had the 5 inch black/gold/purple supreme dalek from planet of the daleks. When i moved house i lost all of my doctor who figures. I had favourites like davros and the red and bronze supreme dalek and a bunch of classic daleks and variants. Sitting here ten years or so later looking back on this stuff for nostalgia i found the gold and black supreme dalek that i had on amazon for £75. There's one left in stock and the only other two I've found on the internet is second hand on ebay. One is £40 but has stiff and loose joints and an off centre head light and the other one is £50 in good condition. Judging from what I've seen, it's pretty rare and damn expensive for one dalek. £50 for one unboxed second hand dalek figure is a decent amount and i lost mine when i moved house. God knows how much the other stuff is worth now. Never thought any of that would be worth anything in the future but that cool black and gold supreme dalek that my mum probably got for £10 is now extremely rare and costs anywhere from £40 - £75 if you are lucky enough to find one and the better the condition the higher the price. Whoever has all of my old figures may not realise they've got a dalek worth £50 if it's still in good nick. Sure, it's not a massive amount but it just goes to show that figures indeed go up in value over time so they are worth collecting whether you want to make a future profit or have a collection so you don't have to pay an arm and a leg for it in the future.

The Classic Era figures were the BEST Dr Who action figures from Character Opinions! I even remember planning to customise some New Series Daleks as Classic era ones by repainting them in classic colours but when the wave was announced, I felt that there was no need well I did have a spare Dalek Sec and repainted that as the Supreme Dalek from Planet of the Daleks. The plan was almost revived in 2012 because I thought that we would never get a Red Dalek in classic form and I planned on getting another 60's Dalek and repaint it red until the third wave of Doctor and Dalek two packs from the saddle now closed Toys "R" Us was revealed. :)

I had a lot of the Character figures, and the TARDIS interior and exterior toys. Not as a collector but as a kid who played with them.

Wow..... Just wow this was so amazing!! I wish I had all of those figures. I only have one cybermen the 12th Doctor and davros. But then I'm more of a doctor who cosplayer and that I also collect all of the sonic screwdrivers and props used in the show!

It’s not just the WIS Cybermen that are missing, there’s also the Original Silurians, the Yeti, the Dalek from The Five Doctors, AOTC Cyber Controller, Glass Dalek, Lion like Creature things from Inferno and the ones that I and many others want but due to license unable at the moment the Peter Cushion Movie Daleks and many more.

I sure wish Doctor Who merchandise was as readily available in the US, as it is in the UK - especially the action figures... I’ve been fortunate to have collected several figures from the Tenth Doctor era, as well as the Eleven Doctors figure set, and a Flight Control TARDIS. But, they’re extremely hard to come by, and not nearly as easily available here as they are across the pond. And, that’s sucks.

A dream come true to have all these classic who action figures, this is the best thing about the modern who for me, the fact it spawned the classic series figures, I hope one day we can have figures from red dwarf...

I remember when the first classic dalek set cane out :) I wasn't aware of the actual date of the release, but I was in Toys R Us with my dad, planning to get the Stolen Earth set. As soon as I saw the classic daleks....yeeaaaaahhhh screw the Stolen Earth set 😂 still have them and still love them

Being a collector myself I have every single carded and boxed Dr who figure classic and new who. How much it's all worth collectively I have no idea

I've been able to get fuck all for classic figures in the US for the past 3 years. I've missed out on all of the great b&m sets released elsewhere. (I would've loved either of the monster sets) and it seems I'll have to miss out on all of the new b&m sets even though I've been waiting for a classic tardis for years.

There's another b&m classic TARDIS coming out? Holy shit. I'm literally panicked that I won't get one now.

I missed out on so many great figures. My classic series only includes the Eleven Doctors set, Ace, and the Night of the Doctor Eighth. I'll probably have do some hunting online for others when I have the cash.

This makes me very nostalgic. It's a shame they've stopped producing fully new figures, I remember a few years back when they were throwing around the idea of CO website exlusives - which eventually became the first missy figures - they were talking about doing accessory heavy classic figures, similar to the original release of Leela, and put to a vote what we'd like to see out of Jamie, Tegan, Ainley's Master in his proper costume, classic series Sarah Jane or 1970 Silurian. Shame that never happened because I'd have bought all of those in a heartbeat. But what we did get was quite incredible.
