This was a very helpful video. I’ve got the same parts to do on mine and it’s good to see someone else do it before I do. Thanks

I’m out in the garage most days... organising the space, but I need to build a better jig before I can start on the metalwork. I might video the journey :)

DB, Great job on the back end it‘s really come on well, It‘s very satisfying when all the new panels fit well and you have them welded in place. Quality work can‘t be rushed and like you show it needs to be done in a methodical order. Cheers Dave

DB, I noticed in the time-lapse you seemed to change a few belts on the finger sander, There are some cheap belts out there but the glue on the join is very poor so instead of being worn out the belt snaps, The better quality belts are not cheap but last far longer so it‘s false economy to buy the cheaper belts in my opinion, Sean sent me some out and the lasted a few minutes till they snapped at the join. Even applying more glue to the join doesn't work. Cheers Dave

@@ClassicCarCave i got a bad batch, I've used them before and they were fine but these were terrible. I was offered a refund but it was very frustrating, the music blocked out my swearing😂

fabulous Sir DB... seeing your sport welder with 'flat' contacts makes me wonder about my pointy tips. will have to look into that.

Great work DB, out of interest what grit are you using on your finger sander to grind down the welds?
@DBMiniDIY
@DBMiniDIY 3 жыл бұрын
Cheers mate. I have mixed grit depending on the welds and it does really tidy them up well. This was 60 grit for these ones

Hi DB, I was wondering what the holes were for at the ends of the valence panel just below the brake lights? Access to spray panel preservative after removing a rubber plug?

@@midgelambert3880 yes mate, rear fog lamps are required by law on modern cars, it was the 80s (cant remember the exact year) that minis legally had to have a rear fog
