Classic Tailback - Napoleon Kaufman Washington Highlights

A compilation of some of Napoleon Kaufman's highlight's at the University of Washington. After his collegiate career was over, Kaufman was drafted in the first round by Al Davis' Raiders. That should give you an idea of how FAST this guy was. He was the definition of a scat-back, a tailback who could make a man miss and take it to the endzone at any time.
The games I used to take the clips from can be found on Stephen Barnett's youtube channel (and there were a few other channels I used as well that you can find if you look around): / sbbarnet. .

I was in the 8th grade when I saw Lompoc vs Santa Barbara. Nip scored 5 touchdowns in the first half and then sat out for the second. He's an 805 legend who went on to play for the Raiders who used to have their summer practices in Oxnard. That's why the Raiders have a huge following in the 805! Nip is one of my favorite top 10 tailbacks of all time. And now he's a pastor preaching the Good Word! Much respect🤙

Nap is still my favorite NFL player of all time. He is the only NFL jersey I have ever owned. I was so excited when the Raiders drafted him I ordered a custom jersey over the phone the very next day. It had to be custom because it was so soon they obviously were not making Kaufman jersey's yet. I still have the jersey in a glass case in my game room.

Can you fact check my anecdote on Your nephews sophomore season. I’m now recalling a win over Notre Dame Sherman Oaks in round 1. That was the team I was referring to. I was class of 86. We had Sheldon Canley who was one of the great backs that played for the Braves. Nip was in a class by himself. If he broke 1 tackle from scrimmage he was gone. ☮️

Kaufman should've been an all-time USC great. But Washington was a mini powerhouse in the early 90s, while local universities were down in the gutter, so he chose Washington.

It still amazes me just how fast he could accelerate to full speed in just a few steps, some seriously powerful leg strength hr had, it's so rare to see any RB's like him. Not many 180 pound guys dragging tacklers or taking shoulders to defenders. I'm not saying that the past few RB's like Polk weren't great backs, they were durable and talented, and they are also pretty fast, . Kaufman just had a higher range in his gearing, and his reaction time seemed so beyond his peers, he'd probably still be evolved over his peers if it was today's game

Cotonio Moses34 I was a 167 lb RB in College during this time, so Kaufman was one of my idol's. I heard he benched 400+ and we were about the same speed, 4.3-4.4. He went to the Raiders and did well. I think the NFL was just a little too big for him but despite this fact, he still was very good. Rocket Ismael was my other guy too, he also was around the same time. But Rocket ran a 4.1-4.2. Watch his Highlights, some of the best ever to come out of College. Absolutely incredible.
