For seven years Richard Dean Anderson played Angus MacGyver, the secret agent who didn't carry a gun or a pocketful of high-tech gadgets. Mac was a brilliant improviser; he used things he found along the way to make or repair what he needed. The 1985 show ran for seven seasons, though it was never finished a season in the top 30. It was a hit in syndication, so much so that several revival movies were produced and recently a reboot. The theme music is by Randy Edelman.

1:11 Opening titles, season seven. After a year or so the synth-sound of the first season was modified to include real musical instruments broadcast in stereo. This arrangement lasted through the final season.

The original series is SO much better than the reboot. Richard Dean Anderson's MacGyver was a worthy hero to all of us fans of the show.

RDA sure appreciates The Simpsons referencing the show, given he had Dan Castellaneta in a guest role on Stargate SG-1 (which he produced), and later voiced himself on The Simpsons.

@@andrewbarton2590 And an awesome theme song too and sadly no official MacGyver Soundtrack album has never been released! The theme song was only ever released on Television's Greatest Hits: Remote Control back in 1996!😉🤔💽🤷

unfortunately the new generations will not have a macgyver.. a healthy model to follow, an example, an incentive to do well. This show gave us what we needed in those years and much more than we can get today. Thank you

Agreed. The second theme included a quick shot of "Countdown", Mac s ingenious way of diffusing a bomb aboard a cruise ship. I too was a teenager in the 80s

진짜 맥가이버는 최고의 미드임~ 한국에서는 군사 독재 시절때 최초 반영했는데... 그당시에도 너무 너무 잼있었음~ 전격Z작전(키트), 맥가이버, 에어울프, 머나먼정글, 초원의 집, 600만불 사나이 등... 은 정말 내 가슴속에 최고의 미드임~ 그리고 이당시 OST 오프닝 만든 자곡가들은 정말 천재들임... 2000년이후로 이런 임펙트 있는 오프닝 음악은 아직까지 보이지 않고 있다~

WATCHED THIS IN THE PHILIPPINES BACK IN THE 80'S EVERY WEEKEND WHEN WE VISITED MY GRANDPARENT'S HOUSE. THIS AND RESCUE 911 RIP GRANDPA AND GRANDMA LOVE YOU FOREVER. THANK YOU FOR THE GREAT MEMORIES.

2:08 It’s impressive if Richard Dean Anderson really did this stunt, MacGyver was my favorite show when i was a kid, it was really cool to have a hero who uses his intelligence instead of weapons, especially in the 80s.

I was on a camping trip with my university and the first night we were there, one of our leaders realized she'd forgotten a can opener. My Swiss Army knife has a can opener, so I pulled it out and handed it to her. She stared at me for a second and was like "Why do you have this just on you?" and I said "I've watched MacGyver and now I never go anywhere without it"

This reminds me of the former Seven Network television studios in Epping, Sydney, Australia, with the other theme songs including A Country Practice, Dallas, Donahue, Family Ties, Hey Dad, LA Law, Magnum PI, Over The Hill, Sons And Daughters & The Upper Hand all sounding just like this one, the MacGyver theme song!

I watched the series when I was 19 years old when it first came on television I never missed a episode a hero for humanitarian Causes and non violence he was a hero.of the mind
