This was the first (I think) time I'd seen Alex.. Incredible! You'd be surprised @SurHairless, how many of us there are that have been singing forever and most of the ones I've seen haven't had any real training or schooling for music besides being in music class in middle or high school. But music is absolutely 💯 in our blood and are just unknown, really ❤😢

My first Alex….(didn’t follow Glee).. there’s everything here! Powerhouse vocal with such a high range… but the grit & growl moments really got me and the choir really added nice support & contrast both. This is a voice that can handle the musical theater stage. 🎶🌟

@@SirHairless 😂😂 i did.... And He Likes the Musik. But thats Our nighttime Routine... (Highnotes And harmonies calm him down) but His mother, granny and KZfaq itself came Up with dogs, Krokodil and horses for the day. And now He knows exactly wich Song He wanna listen at wich time, even If He still can't say the title. He can say " No, other".....( He is 1 1/2 y) And for the wellerman He knocks with the Fist 😂😂😂

This is one of my favourite songs from Hairspray!!! I have not heard of Alex Newell before, so I think I will be watching lots more of his videos now 😊 Thanks so much for reacting to such a mesmerising voice (along with the choir!)

Powerful powerful voice!!!!! Very soulful. I Love it that it is an artist I don't know. ( Have seen him in Glee re-runs.) I loved that show and binged watched it. All those kids were very talented. It's very sad that people with so much talent made such bad choices. They lost 3 of the original cast. Makes me sad.🖤 This reminded me of school and our choir and chorus. We never had to endure the kind of treatment those kids did on that show. ❤R/A🎼

Very sad I remember when I first saw Glee on TV by accident - my mum had it on and said I might enjoy it. I didn't watch too many episodes but there were some great covers in there One song was actually my most-played song a few years ago, during lockdown, on Spotify

@@betsyvondracek4009 Probably quite an unexpected one: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun kzfaq.info/get/bejne/m8uDrc2BkpudY4E.html I love the original song, but I just couldn't believe how simple, yet transformative, this version was But its simplicity is what meant I could listen to it on repeat for x number of times, without really thinking about it too much. Just listening to it now as I type this makes my stomach feel all giddy....the power of musical nostalgia

@@SirHairless l think that is really what the song makes you feel and who wouldn't love the happiness the song spreads. You can't help smiling when you hear it! It's fun.This is a beautiful rendition. Again - same song totally different.

Wow!! What a voice! My first time hearing him. I am going to throw something very strange and ridiculous out their. Facing the young 60 on 13th of April. Told hubby don't want a family gathering as we usually do. Have one wish, a reaction to Pentatonix 's Hallelujah by a certain Sir Hairless. Oh ignore, don't want to start something here. “Independently Owned” from his Broadway show Shucked would be a great one to react to from Alex Newell. He won a Tony for it I believe.

What a powerful voice! I didn't know Alex Newell and this introduction clearly shows how talented they are. I particularly liked their bold attitude with that sassy growl towards the end of the performance :) Thank you (and the person who suggested) for another excellent video✌

Thanks for the reaction & analysis. They are an incredible talent. I agree with others that their performance in Shucked is fantastic-Independently Owned. You might also enjoy their performance of Random Black Girl. The performance is very impressive and entertaining.

Sir, have you heard Hildegard von Blingin' (pseudonym)? She "Renaissanc-izes" songs by reworking the music and lyrics. My favorites, so far, are Save Your Tears, Holding Out for a Hero, Jolene, Somebody That I Used to Know, and Soldier, Poet, King. Really cool! Hildegard's voice is crystalline. I appreciate that she's closed captioned her lyrics.

👏🏻 wow !! Question.. would be interesting understanding the definition of genres . Such as you mention, swingy, jazz, blues gospel .. always wanted to know the definitions most know what R&B , pop, classical opera, rap, bluegrass, folk. ect .. plz add more in comments . That would be a great video for you to break down of course your ear recognizes there’s so many What did I leave out? Thanks 🎵

Interesting question! And it's not something that can be answered easily (if at all!) These days, each genre has many sub-genres, so it's almost impossible to 'define' any song as just one genre. I just think in terms of what musical elements remind me of songs that are often considered to be in another genre

Sounds like a mix of blues and gospel and plenty of soul and a little surprised he/she is non-binary. Couldn’t care less but definitely thought female but born male. Maybe, he got a mix of little both high and low voice. Sounds way more enhanced than Queen Latifah. I don’t remember him from Glee but definitely dererves a solo career.❤
