An excellent breakdown - maybe one of the best I've seen. Nightwish are extremely popular and I'm guessing you know now! But you've not even scratched the surface, I would love to see many more Nightwish breakdowns when you have the time. If you do, maybe begin with 'Ghost Love Score' from the same concert - believe me, there's plenty to get your teeth in with that one. Take care 😊

One of the most fascinating and in-depth reactions of Nightwish that I’ve seen in a long time. Skip over Patreons and jump right into Ghost Love Score from the same concert. That is the song you can really dig into. The Nightwish army will reward you.

I love analysis. Your first "Floorgasm" before the end of the first verse. Nightwish is big on crowd participation. It is a huge part of Nightwish culture. Can't wait for you to check out "Ghost Love Score" for a serious symphonic song. This one is a big single from Nightwish. For much of the symphonic elements they do use backing tracks combined with the keyboards. Floor does have a very graceful and elegant stage style on some songs. She always dances and moves to the music. 🤘🤘These are a metal music gesture which means they are loving what they are hearing. A sign of salutation and expression of musical passion. Hope you come back for more. You are able to break down and explain music in a wonderful style. 🤘🤘 So many brilliant musical creations from Tuomas to comment on and explain musically.

Please, please, PLEASE do more Nightwish reactions! The Nightwish Army will provide you with extensive info about what songs and which videos to use, and you'll definitely get to hear many different sounds you can break down. And if you happen to like symphonic metal, commenters will suggest other symphonic metal bands (Epica, Within Temptation, Kamelot, etc.) and/or generally interesting metal bands with a great variety of sounds to explore! As to some of your questions (apologies in advance for the wall of text): - Yes, you'll see people clapping, headbanging, singing along with and sometimes even "dancing" during songs at any metal concert. And when I say "dancing", I mean generally moving, jumping, going with the flow and energy of the music and the crowd. Compared to traditional or classical music concerts, bands want crowds to engage with the music - encouraging to clap or sing along with parts of the songs is a tried and certified way to do that. Crowdsurfing is also part of that sometimes. You'll also sometimes see people running in circles (aka moshpits) or two sides of a crowd running towards each other on the signal of the singer (aka participating in a wall of death). You won't see the latter kind of movement much at Nightwish concerts specifically, but generally at many if not most metal concerts. - The dancing you see from Floor in this video is indeed a kind of headbanging, though it is a more "soft" and elegant way of doing it, which also fits with the general vibe of the song. If you react to more heavy songs by Nightwish or any other metal bands, you'll see the more classic headbanging. Also, having long hair is not a prerequisite for headbanging, although it makes for a more visible effect. 😉 - The "rock hands" 🤘are generally called devil/metal horns. You'll see them at any metal concert, it's a pretty universal symbol used by metalheads. - The dirt/mud you see on some of the people comes from the festival grounds. Wacken is a small village in the middle of grasslands. For a few days a year, these grasslands are the playing grounds for over 80000 festival visitors - add to that rainy weather and you've got yourself a giant mud pit. I've read somewhere that the people from Wacken are working very hard on finding a more resistant variety of grass in order to reduce the probability of muddy festival grounds, with varying levels of success. - You'll see lots of flags at metal festivals. For many people, three days of quasi-nonstop metal concerts with a big variety of metal genres, popular and new bands is way more attractive than waiting/hoping for one singular band to come to your next biggest town. So you'll see people from all over the world travelling to Wacken. - About Emppu (guitarist) and Jukka (drummer) talking to each other: These guys have been in Nightwish since 1996, they've played hundreds of shows together, have been on tours for quite some time. I dare say they know each other very well and have ways to communicate with each other on stage even if they can't really hear each other. You won't see this with every band, but Nightwish has lots of small on stage interactions that show they enjoy their time on stage.

Great reaction. This is a very straightforward song for Nightwish. There is a whole lot to unpack and each composition is unique. If you stick with it, I think you’ll be very popular with the Nightwish Army. Let’s see how you do with Ghost Love Score from the same live Wacken 2013 live concert. Enjoy your journey down the rabbit hole. Say hello to Alice on the way.

I truly enjoyed getting your analysis of this song. If you do react to more Nightwish songs You will find that most of them have their own unique intracasies. In general, this particular concert is regarded as one their best ever, where performance, sound, mixing and effects were all on point, although there are plenty of other concerts of theirs that are excellent as well. In general they are regarded as a band that shines when performing live. For your next song(s) you can't go wrong if you follow Gabriel bardec's suggested list. But as a must do song I would suggest "ghost love score" from the same concert.

Fascinating and wonderful breakdown and analysis of this performance by our beloved Nightwish with our 6'1" Valkyrie, Floor Jansen (Yahn-sen) on lead vocals. I recommend that you read all of Gabriel Bardac's comment which will give you some background on this band and follow the link he provides at the end. That will take you to his list of amazing live Nightwish performances. They are the rare band whose live performances are even better than their studio productions. Thank you and hope to see you back again soon with another Nightwish reaction with Floor.

Crowd participation (like clapping) is very much appreciated. It builds an energy of which the band can feed of.They will return the favor and give a higher energy back to the crowd as well. It is not without risk, because of changing time signatures and even more: the speed of sound dictates a crowd of 80.000 will ALWAYS be off-sync. This is not a problem to the band, because in their in-ear monitor there is a clicktrack playing that is their only truth. Floor can sing like an angel (including full-opera) and seconds later be growling like a demon...extremely versatile... One more important thing to know: _"It is called head banging, not hair banging"_ - Floor Jansen (as she had cut her hair shorter)

This is the first time I saw a reaction of you and I immedeately subscribe. What an educational reaction. I'm an older fan and already was a fan of Nightwish and of Floors former band After Forever before Nightwish and Floor joint forces. Nightwish is perfect for Floors skills and Floor is the perfect addition to Tuomas's compositions (the keyboardist). General Gabriel has already reacted and his list is a very good guide to discover Nightwish, the top of the bill of female-fronted symphonic metal. Having seen this reaction, you have got me very curious about your reaction on Ghost Love Score (also Wacken 2013), with a more operatic and a more gritty Floor, but also your opinion on the time signatures in this song. It is a wonderful, but also complicated song. Greetings from the Netherlands.

I enjoyed your commentary. It was a great breakdown. A welcome respite from reactors who at the end just say, "I Loved It". Every Nightwish song is different and tells a story. The Metal Mozart behind this is Tuomas (keyboards, founder). He writes 95% of the music and lyrics for the various pieces. Floor is unmatched for her combination of versatility, power, and pitch perfect voice. If you would be interested in something more to your tastes, then I direct you to Tuomas' song "A Lifetime of Adventure". He didn't use Nightwish for this. He created this piece with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the choir group Metro Voices and his own wife who is an excellent singer. He also utilizes the Philharmonic and Metro to create the backing tracks you hear in various Nightwish songs. 😊🤘 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gL2nhrmA1Juvj58.htmlsi=Hhsstg7ujlLIoGw_

THIS is what Ive beelookibf for all these years. A true musical anakysis of Nightwish. A few things... Floor has a range of over 3.5 octaves so yes, you will hear chest and head, but also grit and even geowl. Nobe of it is strain - thats ibe thing you will not hear. Nightwish use irchestral and choral backing tracks often LPO, but Tuonas (who composes over 95% of the music and lyrics) also uses choral and string pstches on his keys. All are absolute masters of their instruments (including Marco's vocals which oetsonally I think got better after his botched throat operation). Marco has been replaced now after he left 3 years ago for mental health reasons, but he is back doing his own thing, thank goidness. The other member you don't see here is Troy Donocjley, bwho like you (I think) is English (from Workington). Troy plays more instruments than you can shake a stick st (and if you did, he would pick it up and play it somehow). You have picked a pretty simple song as a starter and when you get to more complex ones I will love to see analyses like this - but be orepared to make long videos. The Nightwish Army wont mind that, we're here for it. Theres a lot more to say, but for the moment Ill mention that clapping a rhythm is common but sudiences have many oeople who cannot keep on the veat and ut deteriorates into geberal applause. In the second bout you comnented, Marco gives visual cues to help them. I hope you go down this warren but it will take time as the songs are complex and rarely short. This song isnt in my top 6 NW songs, but neither is the most-reacted song on KZfaq which is Ghost Love Score from this same show I would recommend Song of Myself from this show, 7 Days to the Wolves from Wembley 2015 (I love Nightwish at Wembley) and Dead Boy's Poem from Buenos Aires 2018. But thats just a start. Gabriel has probably pisted his lust but dont feel you need to do things in the irder if that list. Jump about Finally, you will find everything from Celtic folk, to heavy metal, to ballads to classical tone-poem, with everything in between and Nightwish are masters of them all. I have been steeped in classical music for 60 years and I believe Tuomas matches my favourite classical composers Many call him the Metal Mozart but I dont buy that. For me, hes the Metal Mahler. Mahler said "my music cintains the world and everything in it" and I cant think of a more apt description than that for Tuomas' music. Looking forward to more. Nightwish Army UK Eastern Division signing out for now.

Incredible reaction, I've learned so much even after having listened to this song many many many times! Thank you. You will be in for a treat if you dig some more in Nightwish music. I myself discovered them 5 years ago and have since been to some live shows of Floor solo and Nightwish. Tuomas Holopainen, keyboardist and main composer, is being regarded as one of the best composers today. Some call him even The Metal Mozart. He has also composed a number of classical pieces. A complete suite of the pieces was added to their previous album "Human Nature". I am really looking forward to you digging some deeper into the Nightwish music and hope to learn more from you. Thanks again.

Nice! You're going to have a FIELD DAY with "Ghost Love Score!!" (Same concert) If you notice , Floor said "but for now we're going to START A little softer..." It was an inside joke she was sharing with the crowd who all know this song like the back of their hands and know it builds into that double-kick crechendo at the end, that it's anything but "soft" after the opening. Yes on the symphonic backing track. It can be hard to separate sometimes what Tuas is doing with the keys and what's pure backing track, but most of the orchestral music you hear is pre recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra Tuomas (keyboardist) composes and arranges the vast majority of it. He's an absolute genius. Glad you finally got to hear the Valkyrie Goddess. Welcome to the Rabbit hole! Set aside the time to do Ghost Love Score. I promise it will blow your hair off.
