I recently listened to the full Parasite sound track and was surprised by how old-school classical it was, in a good, really competent way. As opposed to 'classical lite'.

Its interesting that IU is now so successful that she can produce music for the sake the music. This cannot be described as a song seeking pop audience popularity... or any audience aside from serious music lovers.

I got emotional the moment IU started singing, I don't think that has ever happened before. The original is beautiful but IU managed to make it more intimate and raw imo. Being able to read the lyrics while the song was playing definitely helped with that. What a wonderful rendition Oh and I think I say this every time but Isaac's analogies are always on point!!

IU has been concentrated on the legacy and heritages of Old K pop especially 70s and 80s when the ballads, folk or even, rock music got started in Korea. And I appreciate that so much. Flower Bookmark albums are actually cover album hommage to good old days' music

I have a question about this song. Is it technically a "Trot" song? Even the original seems borderline to me and then IU/Jung Jae-il's version is pushed even further away. Any opinions about that?

@@vidthreenorth4007 Technically I have not heard any musical terms referring to the music of that time and the close word for that was Popular music, 대중가요 but it is different genre from Kpop for sure.

@@vidthreenorth4007 Definitely not a trot song. Jung mijo was one of the folk song singers at that time. She liked French Chanson and got her ph D in Université de Paris majoring Fine art.

This is the first time that i listen to the original song. I don't have many information in this song. I only knew is the version of IU her very emotional version of this song and i'm surprise knowing that this is a 1972 song. IU has a great taste specially in old songs. I learned a lot of old songs to IU. I'm one of her fans. I also want her to sing this song on her concert.

this is one of my favorite songs. jieun's voice just moves my heart :'( plus the piano and the cello.. there's a live performance and it's amazing, i literally get goosebumps everytime

Both of her Flower Bookmark albums were basically the soundtrack of my trip to Europe last summer, and I've been listening to them so much since. I love IU's covers of all these songs, and I loved this reaction, especially including the original song too.

This’s definitely my favourite song on flower bookmark II, and she actually said that her favourite and most satisfying performance of her whole career was for this song on Your Song with Jae Il

Aaah so wonderful to see you guys react to this! I feel like IU's covers/remakes are such a good gateway into korean oldies, which I really enjoy now and then. I hadn't heard the original of this till now though! Oh man I love both versions so much now. IU's is heartwrenchingly beautiful and Jeong Mi Jo's is just wow. Fascinating.

Even you dont understand IU by the stream the first I hear it I felt emotional because the way she sang it is full of emotion that she is telling me that the song is so painful well that is IU power she can reach you emotionally or happily by her song.

By The Stream is my favorite track from Kkot-Galpi 2, such an incredible song. I actually prefer the live version to the audio, the emotions she portrays there is insane. I think IU mentioned before that she wanted emotions to fill the song rather than various instruments because the lyrics/atmosphere was already so grand. I personally think she made the right decision. Now hoping we would release Kkot-Galpi 3 soon

한국에 '개여울'이 있다면 서양엔 'Gloomy sunday' 'Sombre demanche' 글루미 선데이가 있지요. 두 곡 모두 처음 들었을 때, 삶을 마감하고 싶은 감정이 밀려 왔었는데 후에 알게된 사실이 이 곡들 모두 자살과 연관된 사연이 있더군요... 그랬어요..

If you interested in Korean old pop songs, I would like to recommend you Yu Jae-ha(유재하), Kim Gwang-suk(김광석), Kim Hyun-sik(김현식).. They are like the root of K-old pop music..

Yeah, it's something new I'm trying out! Makes it seem a lil more official. May move to "custom" made definitions next season 🤔 AND LOL- This one was hard to cut down. Started at 22mins for the rough cut but I took a deep breath and sacrificed some moments I thought dragged on a little too long or just restated what other reactors said x'D

The first time I heard this song was from IU's album and I completely missed the Spanish influence. From the history, it seems that the song version was either written for Trot or was influenced by Trot. Trot is derived (directly and somewhat indirectly) from Spanish music, so that far, it is what I would expect.
