For the 44th video of this series, classical music majors react to NCT DREAM’s ‘Chewing Gum’ & ‘My First and Last’ MVs!

#EXO #NCT #WAYV Come Back, the superior song Most idol members can’t drive and don’t get their drivers licenses, mostly because they’re too busy to. Plus, the managers drive them around to their schedules so there’s not much need for driving. Most idols get their license once they’re older and move out of the dorm.

Preach! ;) That is exactly why I subscribed to this channel in the 1st place. ^^ I understand that NCT- Dream is not a group for them and they don't have to like their songs. ''Chewing Gum'' is poppy and a little childish, lots of pink and adorableness, enough to give you diabetes, ''My first and last'' is more mature but still suiting their age range.. ;) I personally like the younger units, but I totally get why people would refuse to listen to them on a daily basis and it's ok. ^^ Peoples' opinions differ. ^^

Lee Felix Hm I would agree, except that the graduation system literally exists so no one who’s too old is in NCT Dream. If they made Dream a fixed unit (which I think they should) then it would make sense their music would mature with them. I think since they have the graduation they should’ve sticked with the cute concept, since there’s already two NCT units where they have cool concepts. So I wish they had at least one unit the people who don’t enjoy dark concepts could stan.

@@soelala 4/6 of the members are literally 19. you can't expect them to be chewing gum forever. besides, they don't really have any dark concepts aside from go (which was natural, as the idea was rebelling teenagers--the concept of nct dream is YOUTH and rebellion is part of that) and boom (which if you listen to the lyrics, is about them now being all grown up. hence the graduating). personally i think it makes perfect sense. and in those eras it's not like they don't have any cute songs... WGU was in-between go and boom and it was pretty cute. and we boom album has best friend and beautiful time which are both cute feel-good songs

sharkie we go up is definitely not a cute concept. to me that’s actually their real graduation song. And yes I get the “Go” concept as rebel phase. All I’m saying is if they wanted to make Dream a “growing up” concept, then why invent the graduation system in the first place? Just make them a fixed unit and have them disband once they’ve completed their growing up process or let them keep making music I don’t care. I’m not really complaining about NCT Dream. The unit and the members are to this day my favorite. I’m once again complaining about SM’s managing, especially of NCT. I wouldn’t want these talented members to be stuck doing one concept for forever either, but technically if SM managed them correctly they could all show different sides within NCT U, or once they graduate at 19 with whatever they do from then on. Idk, I really don’t think it’s something worth fighting about because it won’t change what NCT Dream is now. I just like considering what would’ve been if they had stuck to the cute concept.

I was so happy watching Gwen go all uwu over them bc thing is, whatever anyone says about NCT Dream, you can ALWAYS see people with a smile at the end of their MVs. That's how you know they're successful in their goal: bringing happiness and cheer to the veiwers no matter their age, gender or style..it's kinda what childhood is all about and I really respect SM for coming up with their concepts (completely diregarding GO MV puberty concept here and the WHIPLASH it gave me.....get it?....lol sry)

I'm so happy they liked NCT Dream :D they're personally my favorite sub unit and I think a lot of people frown on them because of how young they are, but I think they're very solid musically. They're already showing a consistent style this early in their career and I think it'll be fun to see how they evolve as they get older.

Shelby Miniesta but thing is they have this graduation concept, once you reach legal age you're no longer part of NCT Dream (or so I've heard), which means while the members mature out of the concept, the unit itself can stick to its style.

When they were saying about them sounding pre-pubescent, most of the members were under the age of 15/16 at the time XD their concept in the chewing gum era was definitely aimed more towards younger viewers, but now that they're older the concept is shifting and the older members are moving into the other NCT units :) it'll be interesting to see where Dream's concept goes next :)

Yunyi’s awesome. She gets what can be problematic in Kpop industry every time and she does it even without knowing what’s actually happening there! That means she has an insight and can see through what’s behind just one video clip. Actually chewing gum, the video got controversial for portraying young boys in certain way. If you know about “Shotacon” industry in Japan you would know what I mean.

Lol @ no one noticing the hover board dancing. I remember when this first came out before their lives and everybody noticed and talked about it. Best parts are Kevin being so offended by the 80s-90s graphics, Hugo giving Gwen so much shade when she said she would listen to Chewing Gum all the time, and everyone's reactions to the ending of My First and My Last. I don't know if someone will read this, but some fans have a theory about this mv. They said the boys are ghost that looking at their old crush. it's because the boys were wearing old school clothes while the teacher is wearing a modern one. Another thing is the teacher ignore them because she can't see them. There's another theory but I forgot about it :,-)
