From the very first shot of the drowning boy you see the reference to birth - the cord of the drowning boy's (Dimash) costume while suspended in water... Both boys love the girl, but she loves Dimash.... you will see this reference when Dimash is lying on the beach and the girl slowly reaches her hand out to touch him and at that moment he is brought back. While Dimash is busy with the 'chest/box' you can read the body language between the girl and boy in the background - she 'rejects' him and runs back to Dimash. Of course, the most important symbol that ties them all together is the necklace with the compass piece.. Brilliant. Masterpiece.

This is by far the best explaination I have found. It was written by Heiderose Kober: This is subtitled "Requiem” but it is also a vision and a call to action. Dimash is steeped in sacred music and has a deep understanding of the mystic teachings and symbolism of the major world religions as well as Kazakh shamanism. It is not by coincidence that the first performance of this work took place on September 14, 2022, at the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in Kazakhstan. The written statement at the end of the video is directly from the “Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together” signed jointly on February 4, 2019, by Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Ahmad el-Tayeb. Dimash met and spoke with both men at the September meeting. Everything Dimash does is intentional, and this piece has layers that would take a dissertation to unravel. I only touch on some of what struck me in the symbolism. The music is a dissertation all by itself. The pendant is an interesting element. It is a gnomon from a maritime compass sundial. This triangular blade is attached to the sundial, casting a shadow on the sundial while the perforated pinhole projects the image of the sun onto the dial. It was used for both timekeeping and navigation, with the gnomon oriented to True North. (Thank you, Snarky Tart for that information). In the MV, (the taller child) who later becomes the military commander, never puts on the necklace. After Dimash, (the drowning boy), gives his friend the pendant. The camera focuses on his hand and shows that his friend has bent the gnomon in anger over being rejected by the girl (later Dimash's Wife and the mother of his daughter who is killed). Thus bent, it can never be oriented to True North, and he has lost his moral l compass. Later, we see a version of the gnomon as the military insignia on the uniforms of the commander and his soldiers, but distorted and without the hole that allows light to shine through rendering it useless as a compass. When we lose the original intent of a symbol by twisting it into something it is not or by just paying lip service, it no longer has any spiritual meaning. At best it becomes a useless prop, at worst it is used to mislead and manipulate people. Contemporary music is also present: With the phrase "We have passed the moment of Imagine," Dimash reminds us that we are past the sentiments evoked by the song "Imagine" by John Lennon. It is time to stop dreaming about a world of peace and harmony. If we choose life, if we wish for peace, if we want a world without war for our children and grandchildren, we must act and take up the long hard path up the mountain towards the light. It is the only way. The storyline is a very human one: we start as innocents until our hearts are broken, we fail, or our dreams are not realized. If in our pain and disappointment, we turn to anger and blame instead of acceptance, power instead of love, greed and envy instead of generosity, hatred instead of forgiveness, and revenge instead of justice, we sow the seeds for conflicts that can turn into war. The Piper's call is seductive as it promises redress for our grievances, control over our circumstances, and power over those who thwarted us, and this appeals to our wounded ego. However, let's remember that the Piper is a symbolic figure of Death from the Middle Ages, often used as a metaphor for trusting and following charismatic but dangerous and malevolent leaders to certain death. Even if we resist, as the adult Dimash character does, we often employ the same methods and weaponry as the Piper, and thus those who fight back betray peace as well because peace cannot be won through violence. That is the dilemma of those of us who did not start the war, who do not support the war, but are forced to respond in order to defend ourselves and those we love. How can we rid the world of evil without becoming what we fight against? The burning sign "Waldenberg" is a reference to the end of WWII when the US Army destroyed the last of the resistance by the German Wehrmacht close to the end of the war in April 1945 in the part of Germany where I grew up. I have seen the aftermath of war as I was born a few years later when much of Germany was still in rubble. Waldenburg is only 28 miles from my hometown and was completely destroyed as you can see from the picture. Many of the dead in those bombed-out buildings were women and children. The good guys defeated evil but at what price? War is not the answer. When he is killed after exacting retribution, he is dropped back into the "sacred womb" of Earth, the ocean of love and mercy, and is cleansed of the old hatreds and grievances that only bring more death and suffering. He breaks the wheel of endless war and suffering by choosing life. Dimash's scream of “we’re choosing life” is that of giving birth: the old earthly consciousness of an eye for an eye has to die to make way for a new spiritual consciousness that embraces all life. Soul is breaking free to return to its natural state of love and purity as exemplified by the images of the children and the newborn baby. The blowing of the shofar signals God's mercy for humankind when it turns from wrong to right: in the Zohar, the book of Jewish mysticism, it says: “When human beings repent of their sins, they blow the shofar on earth. Its sound ascends On High and awakens the heavenly shofar, and so mercy is aroused and judgment is removed.” Reborn as a leader for peace and love, Dimash's character in the form of his son becomes a spiritual guide for all of mankind on our shared journey up the mountain towards the light of God, however we may interpret or name the divine. We are all on the same path, even if our personal narratives, cultural heritage, race, and spiritual orientations are very different from one another. By focusing on our common destination rather than on our differences, we can walk together in peace and love and mutual respect. Carl Jung wrote: “Knowing your own darkness is the best method for dealing with the darknesses of other people. One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious. The most terrifying thing is to accept oneself completely. Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.” This is what Dimash has done with this work; he has made the darkness conscious. We can only raise our individual and collective consciousness by bringing to light what needs to be healed in our lives and our world, and then we need to work together to restore wholeness to what is broken and bring about peace and unity, one step at a time. The video shows once again that Dimash is an absolute genius. In singing but also as an actor and as a storyteller. The powerful message conveyed by this video is more relevant today than ever. I think this video is mostly about the message. This message however, is for the first time more important than his vocal abilities. His voice is just the tool in this video. But indispensable and simply indescribable. His singing is indescribable and I don’t have the words to express it adequately. But it is only the mediator of what this video is about. This is so heartbreaking and sad and an awesome masterpiece. Pure goosebumps. He worked on this composition for three years and also wrote the screenplay. The premiere was on September 24, 2022. As some have mentioned, this video should be seen by many people. It may be very brutal for some. But let’s not forget that for many, including children, this is everyday life in some countries. And Dimash relentlessly shows us how ugly war is. Dimash was the littel boy who was drowning in the beginning and he gave the necklace to his childhood friend (and future leader) and the girl. The girl on the beach was his future wife. And she gave birth to her second child in the video. The littel girl who was shot was Dimashs and her first daughter. Desperation and maybe revenge has led him to kill his former friend. But violence always breeds violence, and because of this, not only is the leader dead, but so is Dimash. Dimash in the last sequence of the video was the baby (and not the dead Dimash walking in afterlife) that was born and now as a grown man unites people of different nationalities and religions for peace. I have not seen how such situations evolved in the past, therefore I don't know what will happen next. But many people are suffering today because of a few individuals, it's really true. We, we the adults, consider ourselves to be "smarter" than the small children and innocents, but while we do our best to teach and educate our children, we forget that we also have some things to learn from those children. Dimash has created a gigantic work of art, of immeasurable human value and philosophical depth. And he has presented it to us through a moving, shocking, devastatingly intense performance. El COLGANTE, tiene un gran significado en éste video... Dimash realmente pensó en cada detalle, pues el colgante es un GNOMON, un Gnomon es parte de una brújula... las brújulas sirven para que nadie se pierda en el camino, y eso es exactamente lo que Dimash quiso representar, el niño (que representa a Dimash en el video) hace 3 colgante y se los regala a sus amigos... pero el niño alto no se pone jamás el colgante y lo aprieta en su mano y dobla la punta del Gnomon, lo que hace que no se sirva como guía para su futuro y elija ir por un camino equivocado, un mal camino... pierde el rumbo y toma el camino del mal haciendo que en el futuro se convierta en un sargento enviando tropas a matar civiles inocentes... Dimash se casa con su amiga de la infancia, tienen una hija (que el sargento envía a matar) la esposa de Dimash está embarazada y da a luz un varón pero ella muere en el parto... Dimash mata a su amigo de la infancia por que él mató a su hija, Dimash muere y en el cielo se une a los caminantes de distintas religiones, por que en el cielo todas las religiones son una sola, así deberíamos ser en el mundo, tener distintas religiones no nos hace enemigos, debemos estar unidos siempre independientemente de la religión que profesemos, igualmente si no profesamos ninguna religión no es motivo para perder el camino e ir por el camino de la maldad y hacer daño, por eso todos los caminantes se dirigen hacia la luz... caminan siempre hacia la luz, hacia el amancecer, por que la luz representa todo lo bueno, todo lo verdadero, lo que es correcto... por eso el GNOMON tiene un significado muy importante en éste video... el mensaje es no perder nuestra brújula moral, no ir por el mal camino...

Piper refers to the “Pied Piper of Hamelin” who, when denied his rightful payment for ridding the town of its rats, played his pipe again, and this time led the children of the town into the countryside, never to be seen again. So the reference indicates that when a leader goes “crazy”, it’s time to stop following him, and turn from “wrong to right”. It’s a call to action. The “treasure box” is actually a fisherman’s tackle box. The medal is a gnomon, part of a sundial or a fisherman’s compass, thus symbolizing the ability to find one’s direction in life.

The three children grew up under one sky and they were originally boned with the necklaces. In the film, the boy who saved Dimash became a dictator. Dimash was the child that was saved from the water and made the necklaces, the girl probably became Dimash's wife and they have two children. The girl was killed in the war and the boy was born to become a spiritual leader of Peace for all religions in the end of the film (notice the necklace looks like a letter "P") and hopefully the boy can lead people to the new dawn of humanity. The main point: We're choosing life over death and peace over war.

Thanks for your reaction. I love to see what people think about this video. I'm don't think that Dimash is recommending that we go and assasinate bad leaders. I think he is showing that even people who are against war and hate the death and violence can be pushed to make bad decisions and to use the very thing they hate to try to bring peace. When you watch it again, look at the face of the "bad guy" just before he opens the doors to Dimash. To me he looks like he is finally beginning to realize that what he has been doing isn't really right. As he holds the necklace and remembers his childhood, his eyes look a bit tearful and he glances upward as if he is asking God if he has made a wrong turn somewhere along the line. Then he opens the doors so that Dimash can come in out of the rain and looks genuinely shocked that he is aiming a gun at him. I do think that evil leaders need to be stopped, but I don't think we should just kill them. I think that the "pilgrims" of various religions are a message to the religious leaders around the world (and the regular folks too) that they should be leaders in bringing peace not in splitting people apart or bringing war. In the end of the video I think part of what is happening is that Dimash himself is saying, "I am taking a lead in choosing life and peace, won't you join me?" Anyway, that's my take on it.

Thank you for your in depth observations on this masterpiece by Dimash. As to the story: drowning boy is the boy that made the necklaces and gave them to the taller boy who saved him and the little girl. (note, the symbol is the gnomon which is the main part of a sundial). He becomes the soldier (played by Dimash). The taller boy becomes the commander. You'll notice that he folds his hand around the symbol and bends it - he has lost his way. The girl rejects him for the drowning boy. She becomes the soldier's wife and mother of their little girl - who is killed by the commander's soldiers. She is pregnant and is whisked away to an underground place to give birth to their baby boy. She dies in childbirth at the moment that her husband dies. The soldier mourns the death of their daughter and seeks his old friend the now commander, and kills him. The soldier is then killed in turn by the commander's army. He then falls back into the water where he was drowning as a youth. He remembers his life and he screams 'We choose life' and dies at the moment of his son's birth. The son is now wearing the necklace of his deceased mother. He then transitions into the robed figure who leads all of the religions to light, life, peace. I think that that figure is the soldier reborn, and the child grown, and also Dimash. He looks right at the camera while pulling up his hood and gives a tiny smile. He wants you to know that he is leading this story and it is about peace. The quote at the end is from the conference of religions that was held in Kazakhstan just before this video came out. Dimash performed this song for them with a video backdrop of him in white atop a mountain and all of the people from ALL of the religions are struggling towards the light. There isn't the soldier's story shown, but the people and Dimash singing in white. The Pope was there and gave a medal of gold to Dimash. Dimash also sang this live at his recent concert in Kazakhstan. Dimash worked on this for 3 yrs. and it is a masterpiece in every way. Dimash's vocals are unmatched and so emotional and moving. The short movie is incredibly well done and Dimash put all that he could into it and hired the best people that he could find for all the parts. It should be seen by everyone in the world.

That is the grandiose and impressive result of three years of compositional work by Dimash Qudaibergen. This clip is not about war, it’s about peace. War here is a means of expressing the contrast of what happens when we lose love for one another. It is about the call to unite, to stop dividing each other along national, social, religious lines in order to preserve life, love, friendship, and the land for our children. (Requiem means: Funeral, Funeral Mass, Funeral Service) Story: The clip is divided into several parts. The first is about childhood. The main character and his 2 friends are linked in eternal friendship through childhood stories and a symbol (necklace). One day, the friend saves the protagonist when he is drowning. However, there is already competition in this children's story as the boys are in love with the girl and she chooses 'Dimash'. The pendant is a gnomon, the shadow hand of a sundial, which also served as a sea compass before antiquity. Uniform wearers wear this symbol on their heads. So it can't work. The second experiences a kind of nervous breakdown and transfers the children's problems into the world of adult totalitarianism and struggle. By becoming President, the antagonist (Piper - in reference to the 'Pied Piper of Hamelin') carries within himself the idea of a war to save: “Only war will lead us to peace. Only the strongest can find love in their hearts. You must be strong enough to give freedom to the world. A world where every city, every home is one. We will guide all who are ready to start this new life. Anyone who resists has no business with us. I choose freedom. The world is open to me and I want to give it to you. War for the people is the way to unity.” The main character also speaks of unity, of peace, but through the lens of kindness and love. While fighting, he is confused, he is in shock, but he has to save his family - his pregnant wife (the very girl from his childhood) and his daughter. Once home, he is horrified by the picture of the dead and realizes that his family is also dead. After surviving this drama, he moves on to the antagonist to seek revenge. However, the Protagonist’s wife survives with the help of people who know that she is the one who must give birth to a special boy who can save the world. These are people of different nationalities and faiths who have united for peace. A parallel line of pilgrims are people of different religions, walking the hard path to some place of power where they could unite and discover the Heavenly Eye that would illuminate the world. By uniting, they create a common energy in which the protagonist’s son is born, as Hope and Faith for the Better. Their journey is a symbol of faith in general, because it always goes through trials. When we go to the truth, we go through certain lessons and our way to God is difficult, but only possible if we come together. My response will focus on a heartbroken, frustrated & downright angry young man's urgent message not the phenomenal vocals he ordinarily is lauded for as this is what Dimash has instructed us to do, as well as, to promote it by sharing it far & wide & no one will not be allowed to react and/or share this one! My understanding is that there will be no blocking by him or his team! If you are blocked please let me know. DQ wants it shared and a global dialogue to ensue on how to establish & keep a "World Without War!" There's a lot to unpack & dependent upon a person's frame of reference, their interpretation of the video & DQ's message will undoubtedly be colored by their own preconceptions & life experiences, etc. My interpretation of his message this far is as follows: DQ's phenomenal 9-23-22 Almaty live performance of this composition and this MV are prophetic masterpieces of transcendental pro-planet/antiwar art activism & downright spiritual experiences wherein Dimash issues a sincere, passionate yet, heartbreaking call to action to "learn to love" one another again as we were taught as children & to stop --- all conflicts, all aggression, all wars --- for the real fight before us requires us to unite globally & engage in the fight to save our Mother Earth, "the sacred womb" from which all life sprung! When I first watched this MV, it broke me, I became very emotional, it was heart wrenching, to say the least! 😢 Have you noticed that Dimash is the main solder right from the very beginning of the war scene, when he was shot in the arm, many people miss that? As you know, Dimash has worked very hard for 3 years composing the music for this song, and around 20 days to make this MV. It turned out to be his most valuable MV, in the ideological sense, ever made, a real Masterpiece! I believe that Dimash deserves THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE for his selfless hard work and tireless efforts, not only for this MV, but for trying to bring the world together in love, peace and harmony, through his music, MVs and many charities he dedicates his time to. He is a Legend and will go down in History. The mini movie is full of symbolisms, it's the story of 3 youths, and the necklace which was made by the young Dimash and shared with his friends symbolizing lifelong friendship and unity. The Piper grew up and started a war, using the symbol of the necklace as the crest on his army uniform. This is my breakdown of the story, as I see it: 1) Dimash, who was drowning at the beginning and at the end. 2) The Piper, the one who saved Dimash, and who became the leader, and who was killed by Dimash at the end. 3) The young girl, who died in childbirth, became Dimash’s future wife, had two children together; a daughter who was killed by the Piper's army; and the birth of a son at the end, who inherited the necklace from his mother…, they were all torn by the war. For the symbolic aspects, Dimash is showing the different cultures and religions (Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hindi, etc.), through throat singing, which is called the REQUIEM (mass for the souls of the dead), from different religions. The Pilgrim, Shepard or Wise Man at the end of the video was Dimash’s newborn son, born in his image and grows up to guide the Representatives of different religions and race from different Nations to the light, for a new beginning living together in peace, tolerance, love and harmony. My take on the story: It’s the story of three childhood friends who are all joined by the symbol of the necklace. Dimash as a child (the tallest boy) saves the boy, who eventually became the Dictator. Dimash married the girl from his childhood, they have a daughter who was killed in the war. Dimash kills his childhood friend, (the dictator) who he saved from drowning when they were children. The Dictator’s soldier’s kill Dimash. Dimash’s wife gives birth to their son, his father’s necklace is passed down to him. It’s Dimash’s son at the end leading all people and all religions to peace (Throughout the video when Dimash is singing in a Middle Eastern style, that’s flash forward to the future, where the people of all religions are being led in peace, by Dimash’s son.)
