I was in freshman year. I had a huge crush on a girl I that was very popular, and we were starting to become friends. When this song came out, I remember always turning it up because it made me think of her. We had a falling out, and we moved on. By that time the next year, I was crushing on another girl. A bigger crush, in fact. It's crazy how fast time goes. I wish I had enjoyed it a little more. There's nothing like having a crush on a girl and a song like this is on heavy rotation on the top ten.

I've always enjoyed the fact that Clay's version includes the "Reach out..." bridge, which isn't found on the original demo by Chris Braide nor on the D-side version that was released shortly before Clay released this. The bridge, with it's key change, additional lyrics and layered background vocals, fits perfectly into the song and brings the energy level up quite a bit.

Tiffany Wilhelmsen I was in Elementary school when this song came out. It was literally my favorite as a kid. I got bullied so much for it, because I liked him even after he came out as gay. Back where I lived, it wasn’t acceptable to be gay. I didn’t care. I’ve also personally met him and had several phone conversations with Clay. He’s an amazing human being, an excellent politician and he stands for what it’s like to live in a small town. Love clay! ❤️

Everyone says the lyrics are creepy, but I think they’re sweet. He’s singing about someone he really likes, but they don’t notice him. I’m sure everyone has felt that way. He thinks if he was invisible he could watch them just to see how they behave by themselves, like when you catch a loved one doing something cute. It’s such a sweet and beautiful song. For me this song is about being invisible....going unnoticed...being lonely while surrounded by people. Being a bartender in an empty bar on New year's eve.... going home broke and alone... being told "You should have worked here 10 years ago, every bartender made $1k in tips every night"... then counting up $15 in tips for 8 hours of work. Being invisible sucks.

Clay totally should've won Idol. Reuben has a nice voice but it doesn't measure up to Aiken's vocal talent. It happened for a reason though cuz Clay made tons of money and gained tons of fame due to the albums he put out after the show. I don't care how old this song is, it's a bop and Clay will always be amazing no matter what

2019 and this is still my Absolute favorite song. As a kid I had this on repeat and would listen to this probably every day i had it on a mix tape my family made me, I had it on my MP3 I got when I got that in 2010, i even had the lyrics imprinted in my mind and would sing it even without the music.This song was everything as a child. and I am still loving every bit of this and I am now 22 almost 23. Never ceases to move me. This song has helped me through a lot as a kid and I will always be forever grateful to this song and to you Clay Aiken you've been that rock that helps keep me together when times get rough.
