When my daughter was 3 she refused to eat anything and when I say that I mean she point blank refused food, she had no energy. I took her to the Dr's he said she will eat when she is hungry, I tried to tell him that is the whole point she never felt hungry. She ended up being hospitalised because she was severely anaemic. But after having drips and things in hospital, she slowly started to eat, we would only put the tiniest amount on her plate and she got a gold star if she ate it. Fast forward to her now 14 years old and she loves food. It is one of the hardest things but keep going you will get their in the end.

I like how you describe what you're doing as you're doing it and not spend five minutes explaining to us what you're going to do and then describe what you're doing as you're doing it . On Thanksgiving my husband, my kids and I deliver prepared Thanksgiving meals to people in the community and now this year my son's girlfriend is going to join us.

1. Don't apologize. Period. Learn to ignore haters - they seem to be a part of having a public channel. Love your content and even at 72, I'm learning from you. 2. BTW. It's possible that Sutton has a skinnier esophagus that catches food - uncomfortable and scary - and after throwing up, equates being sick with eating. Maybe going back to baby food - like he saw that his baby brother ate - would be a good start. This could be simple. YOU'RE DOING GREAT HERE. SMILE. PAT YOURSELF ON THE BACK, KID. 😊

You're not alone on the pantry thing. My pantry was so bad, things were just thrown in, and I had no clue what was in there. I finally emptied it and reorganized. I had a whole bag of food that had gone bad and had to be throw out. Hopefully, my new setup will stay put 🙏

Great video, you really did it!👍Thank you very much for the necessary motivation. I love when the video is slower and you talk, I like to listen to you and find out what's new with you. You don't have to apologize for throwing away some food, it happens to everyone, whether in larger or smaller amounts. And especially in a family of four. I hope your son's eating gets better soon! What I want most for Christmas is to be with my family, that's the most important thing for me🥰 Have a nice day and I look forward to your next video❤

Check with your town or churches they usually have a way to sponsor a family. I used to deliver all the gifts for sponsored family’s for a catholic church and I’m not catholic. My town here has a Christmas program where you can sponsor a family. They come to your house and ask about sizes and what they need. Then they deliver it before Christmas. It was so much fun to see happy faces. When I first moved to NC they did it for me. I had no furniture b/c I was starting over after my husbands death. They brought beds ,bicycles three car loads of stuff. I made new friends with them and they watched my kids grow up. As for food if it’s not front and center I will not eat it. I need to be able to see it. I want a large tv for x mas. Lol Happy Thanksgiving love you!

You do a great job admitting and take responsibility for a waste of food. I am sharing my experience, I learned to eat more whole food and so I am avoiding/ buying process food. Now, my pantry/refrigerator have healthy food and not many boxes of process food. My daughter has a child of four year old struggling eating, I suggested to introduce fruit and vegetables and start eliminating snacks/process food. Now, he is eating better. I am not judging you, you are a younger generation then I am. Enjoy your journey in decluttering, I am being there for the last 3-years.

My oldest son is now 38. When he was a toddler, he went through phases where he would only eat one or 2 things at a time - EVERY 'meal'. For example - Cheerios. Then cottage cheese. One of his favorites was 'corn and rice' (with salt, pepper and butter). Also his 'little trees' (broccoli with butter & salt & pepper. I made sure to give him a vitamin daily. He grew out it!

My daughter was very particular about which foods she would eat when she was young. It was sensory issues and we just avoided foods that felt a certain way in her mouth which made it easier to figure out which new foods to try. There are still some foods she won't eat but she is now in her late teens and is much better with eating a variety of foods.

My youngest daughter had a very limited items she would eat. I had to make sure I had those items and incorporated into my menu planning daily. We always made her try a bite of whatever else we had but it was difficult. It did lead to arguments between my husband and myself as he felt we needed to make her eat more. I felt as long as she was healthy I would keep trying but pick my battles. It was terrible if we went out to eat especially when we traveled. I will say as she grew it got better and by her mid-teens her palette changed. She graduated from university with a culinary and business degree and now is a great chef and works at hospital.

Oh my gosh wow! That’s an encouraging story. Sutton is so strong willed. If we try to put food in his mouth that he doesn’t want, he will clamp his little jaw shut so tight and if somehow we get the food in there he just spits it right out (and gags too). It’s crazy. I have been trying to always give one familiar food and then a new one or two to see what he does. Sometimes he really surprises me with what he likes! Yesterday for thanksgiving he refused all of his food but I gave him a piece of ham and he practically inhaled it. You’d think he would go for the potatoes or something but nope!

My son hated eating, meals were always a struggle. Turns out he had a tongue tie! He was 8 when we noticed (his jaw wasnt growing probably) and it was considered 100% tied (severe). It had to be cut twice because of how deep they had to go and then 7 months of physiotherapy afterwards so he could learn to swallow and talk probably, AND so the tie didnt grow back (that can happen!)

Hi Catherine. I was a picky eater myself. I lived on 4 types of food for 4 jears. 1.5 to 6 jears old. and struggled for many years to try something new. I always wanted to be a chef. My parents said it was not an option. (I have worked in a restaurant as second chef for 4 jears. Sow it is possible) Now I am 28 I have only 3 things I really don't like. Enjoy cooking and trying new things every month. What mostly helpt me was growing my one Food when we where little. Tomato carrot barry's the easy stuff. As a child we loved taking care of something and seeing it grow. I hope this wil give you some currage that better days are coming.

Our son ate nothing but cereal and Mac and cheese from age 1 to 3. Our Doctor told us when he got tired of them he would eat something else. But still offer what ever we ate. Most modern ovens are self-cleaning. Is what you are doing above and beyond? Your pantry is very nice. I have a huge walk-in pantry but stuff gets lost in there, so what you have should work well. I found a pkg of shirataki noodles that had been expired for two years in the back of my fridge. I rinsed them, they smelled fine and tasted great when I ate them. Yes, I didn't throw them out.

Our two kids had trouble eating new or spicy food. We just use to stay in basics. They could taste something if they wanted, but we usually kept all that was on the table separetly. It was long journey but both learn to eat nearly everything at age 10. They both have their safe food when they are sick, but thats alright and normal. They are now 16 abd 22. Don't feel pressure to put them eat everything, they have time. Just keep new stuff on the table, one day they may want a bite. Our kids did that. Don't make it a big scene. 👍

Hello! This is the first time I've watched your videos. I can relate to you about your child not eating certain foods. My daughter was the same way, I noticed that my daughter didn't like certain textures of some foods. For example, she had a hard time swallowing meats. She would chew but never seallowed. I literally had to blend her meal to make it a little easier for her to chew. She ate in small portions, so i had to feed her every 2 hours. She is 12 years old now and doesn't have that issue anymore. She still avoids big pieces of meats, but I help her to cut them to bite size pieces. I understand you because it is very frustrating.

Before getting to therapy for the food child issue, you say he has about 4 safe foods, you could try mixing a small amount of something else in with one of the safe foods and increase that, even if it does not really go and when you have half and half try that on its own so increasing it to 5 safe foods and so on.

We have a son with ASD so probably not the same but food is certainly an issue. Just keep offering along with a safe food. Now that he is 7 we are able to enforce a no thank you bite. It’s a slow process but it does get better.

Don’t stress. We’ve all been there. My Grandson would ONLY eat chicken nuggets and pizza. He is 22 now and still extremely picky.

Omg I am currently dealing with my two year old gagging on a ton of things and being so picky. It’s giving me so much anxiety. I’m glad I’m not alone. I feel so upset all the time and worried.

@@CatherineElaine I’m curious what your son’s safe foods are? I know people are quick to jump to sensory issues with gagging, but the foods my girl does eat are like yogurt, peanut butter (so some of the things that seem like they would be hard to eat if sensory issues were in play). I hadn’t considered a gastro, was just thinking of jumping to food therapy.

Bigger pantry probably will mean more foodspilling bc the more you have the more you forget. Just buy what you need for one week at the time

Where are your slippers from? Are they grippy on the bottom? I have wood floors and cant find slippers that are grippy

These are Ugg tasmans I believe. They’re very grippy and nice! They can be hard to find this time of year but if you can get your hands on them, they’re worth the money!

I rinse my oatmeal bowls but I also do all the dishes. Lol Some advice, take the tops off of recycling. It’s easier for them at the recycling plant. 😊 Don’t worry about what we think, you paid for the food.

I don't need or want much. I'm asking for a book for school and the class. I just added candles not that I need anymore. Where did you get the shelves with the little houses are on?

I have Carson also :) My brother is about 39 and he would also have a football in the living room and act out the plays on the game playing on the television. Very satisfying video! Thank you! I know your son is quite young, but could he be neurodivergent that actually can also affect your digestion and give you a sensitive gut and make you sensitive to texture ect.. I am neurodivergent and some of my children are, and it does get better, but it does make someone sensitive to foods and taste and gives you a sensitive gut.

Cheese and egg are bad too if you font rinse off before putting into the dishwasher. If you don't you basically have to soak in hard water to get it off. These dishwashers are not commercial built. Do rinse your dishes before putting into the dishwasher

I was exactly like your son growing up. I have Asperger's it is on the Autism spectrum (ASD). I would have periods where I would only eat one thing and then I would gag over that too and would have to find a new safe food. When I was 3 my doctors tried to tell my mom to just give me what everyone else was eating and that I would eventually eat it. I did not and I starved myself for 3 days then my mom gave me some of my safe food. It got a little better as I got older but he may also have ASD and struggle with the texture, temperature, and flavor of different foods and since he is so young he cannot explain what is going on. Have you gotten him tested for ASD? I did not get diagnosed until I was older but my brother has ASD as well and he was diagnosed when he was your sons age.

Thank you for sharing your story!! He doesn’t present any of the other “typical” symptoms right now, just the food aversions! So we will see, but I certainly won’t rule anything out
