Yeah if he locks in gold on 1st S and 1st CJ, he might give it a legit chance! To beat Gor (the only real threat in the class), he would need a 460 total, so start S at 215 and CJ at 245 and that should be a wrap for gold. Then S 222 and 228 and 260 CJ and then the 272 CJ or just 2 x 272 attempts head on, if gold is 100% locked in from S max + 245 CJ 1st attempt.

People kept saying and writing that there's a huge difference between his 267kg, or his 265kg, or his recent 263kg lifts, on the one hand, and a big, big, never before lifted weight like 270kg., on the other hand. Well, I knew he could do it, I said he could do it, I wrote he could it, and now he has done it. And soon he will do it solidly and officially in a major international competition. Go Lasha!
@DaniloDanny773 жыл бұрын
Sorry to break it to you, bit this was not a good lift. Period. I like Lasha very much, but this was not a good lift. I hope he'll do it in Tokio.
@jameswaugh83393 жыл бұрын
@@DaniloDanny77 I am fully aware of the fact that Lasha never came to a full motionless stop following lockout as is required for official white lights under the current rules. I am a former national caliber lifter myself, ranked 4th in the USA in 1974, and I have been involved in and attentive to the sport of Olympic weightlifting and its rules at least since 1961. Moreover, I have no doubt whatsoever that Lasha, his coaches, his fellow lifters, all of his friends and fans and virtually every other reasonably knowledgeable person who has looked at the video are well-aware that the lift, as it is, would not pass in competition. The point is that Lasha has demonstrated clearly with this lift his ability to succeed with the 270kg weight which various "Monday morning quaterbacks" have confidently and proudly proclaimed is simply beyond his reach. The mere fact that he solidly cleaned the weight for which there is almost certainly no record of anyone ever actually cleaning before, let alone the very nearly completed movement with the jerk, is an inspiration of what he is likely to do very soon in competition. But, of course, no matter what he does or how well he does it, there will always be someone right on hand to find fault with his successes and someone always handy to find reasons to try to make his admirers feel disappointed, stupid, and foolish -won't there be?
@DaniloDanny773 жыл бұрын
@@jameswaugh8339 You ruined everything in the final sentence. Even if I wanted to to make any of his admirers feel stupid or disappointed, which can't be further from truth, you aren't supposed to react as a snowflake or a spoiled child. Lasha is Usain Bolt of weightlifting, Michael Phelps of swimming... you get the point. Fact: This was not a good lift. My wishlist for 2021 Olympics: Lasha Talakhadze- total 500 kg.
@jameswaugh83393 жыл бұрын
@@DaniloDanny77 II take it from your second comment that you assume that I meant YOU are one of those "detractors" to which I alluded; as I take it from your initial comment that you assumed that I ddin't know the rules of the sport when it comes to what is required to complete a successful competition clean & jerk lift. I just say best wishes to you and, yes, I most certainly do hope that we BOTH will have something fine to feel happy about in Lasha's upcoming performance at the Olympics.

So guys, 500 on the menu; If you were Lasha and had that goal, how would you compose the S and CJ for the 500, so he has the best chance? I reckon 270 is close to his max, so 228 + 272 might be a good bet. Heck 230 might just be possible in S.
@io32043 жыл бұрын
My gut feeling has been 230/270 rather than 225/275 since the 500 is a topic. But some experts say that's wrong. Judging by the new 225 snatch, to me he still looks more comfortable for more than with the 270 cj. But his jerk improved recently and he is young. Looks like he could clean 275 here.
