I like to mix it up a bit, only so many things you can show how to scrap or clean up, but a lot of people never go back and watch the old videos, so I need to redo them from time to time. and calls have been very slow this year, I think that I have been getting more calls from people that I got scrap from last year, then calls from the add this year. but too hot to do too much outside, and prices being low I'm not too worried about getting a lot done. I need to melt some aluminum

‘We’ll just tear it up’ that’s the good thing about scrap. Dents, dings, scratches and scraps don’t matter.

That’s a darn good idea… a 4x … brace leg for when you need it! Maybe make a little metal pocket so you could just slide it in then kick it under! Tripod leg… 👍😁😉

As brass is brittle can you just crush the crimped part in the vice and then push the innards out?
@Okiescrapper
@Okiescrapper Жыл бұрын
you may be able to if you have a good strong vice, the pipe jaws may work good for that,

Destroyed a lot of brass scrap with a heavy duty reo bar cutter on a stand with extended manual handle as can break in the jaws but could make a Hydraulic cutter.

Shorten the shaft to just 2” inches before you smack it down! That old nail or metal rod is a great idea to drive out the shaft after it’s cut flush it can’t bend as bad.,, take your driver to your wheel and cut its head a little concave so it’ll cradle your short shaft and not run off sideways… ??? Clean brass is good money!

That is what I was going to suggest. I have wondered the best way to get clean brass from those and now I know, thank Alan. Dave, if you try that before I get to it let me know how it works. Later, Rich

@@richgoss6013 I was helping an old drunk neighbor who had a little run…the local hvac guy was giving use 5-6 sometimes 8-10 and the 100 gallon ones too… he would like us take the heavy metal drain line to…so I’d sledge those bells to get that lead as it was.50 cent a pound t… he was a $100 dollar stop at least… he’d save his copper for the kids college fund… trash cans of copper pipe stacked up!!! It was a fun couple years…old buddy died and I took a break.., I usta spin those out and my old buddy would bust my stones… I cleaned a 5 gallon bucket kinda driving the shaft back and cutting the tougher ones… a full bucket of that brass cleaned is decent money… I busted those bells to get my 50 cents a pound lead too… about 2 hours I had two 5 gallon buckets @ $50 bucks a bucket… he wanted in on it then… I hit him with if you don’t work then you don’t get paid… I made his old butt wack a couple of them… he always got his cut of the loot… he taught me a lot about scraping and a little about life too!

@@Okiescrapper yeah.. I saw when you were cutting that pressed ring and as soon as you tapped through the brass and barely tapped it that it was done… it’s a light little soft metal ring… I’ve been using the electric harbor 4” grinder’s and grab their 5? Packs of 4”cutoff wheels… they jumped up good on price it seems like…. Bought some Diablo 5.5”? From eBay… they were a tad more expensive but they were thinner and they cut a lot more metal before they wore down…. Metabo blades are what I hunt for cheaper on eBay…I love them metabo blades the best…. A real sharp cold chisel and a couple smacks on that ring and you might not need to waste a blade? A sharp carbide chisel

I have a good bit of these. I'm wondering if a dremel with a cut off wheel would do the job or if it would take to long. I commented here before I got my 5in wireless fuel and my freight special Bauer plug in for the house.

@@Okiescrapper yea I clearly didnt fact check my spell check. I put I wonder how a dremel with a cut off wheel would do. Those are pretty small discs too. I just got a wireless 4.5-5 in and I went ahead and got a baurer 8 amp from harbor freight for the shop. Got it for 29 bucks we will see how it does.

What’s that rod in the center you had to hammer out? Is it plastic?
@Okiescrapper
@Okiescrapper Жыл бұрын
it's a copper tube with a thin metal rod inside with some insulation between the copper and the rod, it is used to read the temperature of the water

it might. if a guy could modify a chisel by cutting the end off and then welding a short tube to fit over the rod that might work
