It's always worth the time and effort to get years of outside crud off of a car. And it undoubtedly gives you at least a psychological boost in encouragement to see your purchase look like it's had some care by your own efforts. Some just don't and won't get it! No use in trying to explain it to them. 🤷‍♀️👍

My first car was a 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air. I was born in 1958... you get the idea. These years of Chevy were very prone to rust (especially down on the Gulf Coast!) and my car was the poster child for rust! But I used to wash it regularly, and even wax it because, hey... everything looks better when it's clean! Even if you could see the road through the floorboards! When a piece of the side trim fell off, my dad and I reattached it with sheet metal screws... and to make sure none of the other pieces fell off, we added sheet metal screws to them too!

Keep doing that voodoo that you do Ben. I'm doing the same thing with a 81, so far rebuilt the motor, rebuilt the tranny, fitted the exaughst. Still gotta do interior, wiring, body and paint and weather stripping, ect, ect.. complete rebuild. Then my lady gets a like NEW 81 vette to drive in the summer. Just keep going man, and I'll watch the transformation of a 72 vette. Love the videos, and seeing how you do this. Helps me with my 81.

Love it. Thanks for at least getting the ongoing science experiment portion cleaned up, LOL. Frankly, I would love to see you make a long term project out of this car, I think a garage paint job or rent a booth if you can, and put a new interior in it, address the mechanicals and you'd have a driver that you don't have to worry too much about driving. I know your 73 is your baby (as it should be) but no reason a guy cant have two C3s. It would prve that these cars are "fixable" for the people who don't think they are, and that a guy can do it if he commits to it.

It’s good to see an abandoned car get some love! The early C-3s are good looking cars, and worth the energy! A buddy of mine bought one, back in the 90s, a red small block convertible, that was just a couple of steps, maybe, up the ladder from yours. He swung by one afternoon, and took me for a ride out in the East Tennessee countryside, south of Knoxville, on a nice, early summer day. The car barely had an interior, two seats, three pedals, and a steering wheel was about all there was, but, man, remembering that car, and that ride, brings a big grin to my face! Thanks, Ben, for reminding me. Good work, my friend! Thank you, 🙏❤️🎉

Yes people are like that. A friend of mine was there when I brought two cars home, 65 El Camino and a 73 Buick Apollo. Looking at the Apollo he asked “what are you going to do with this turd?” A few months later after I had the front end fixed and it was put back together he bought it from me. I believe it to be probably the most pristine original Apollo in the country, unless there is one in a museum somewhere...sweet car. What product were you using there?

I remember in high school , my 68 Torino was white with a red primered door, and a brown primered quarter panel. A guy I sat next to in Engish class would heckle me for the whole hour, about how it was a piece of crap.He had no car in high school by the way. Two years later I happened to see him out one night ,where every one used to cruise every weekend. My same Torino was painted red with the same drive train. He said " Wow ! That car used to be apiece of crap. Now look at it !" I replied. " Its still the same piece of crap you made fun of. Only with a coat of red paint. Some people just don't get it . " Then I walked off .

Your videos are extremely insightful and interesting. My son and I bought a 1979 L82 that was a "field find" after sitting 13 years under tarps. It's going to need some paint touch-ups (for the immediate future) and is a gorgeous factory red with a brand new black interior. The engine seems strong and the TH350 Tranny should be a great fit with the factory 4:11 Posi rear end. There's not much to do except installing the new interior and maybe a brake job, and to replace the rubber, which was new but has succumb to sitting with weather cracking. A few good weeks and maybe $1K-$2K should be a great start in the right direction as soon as time permits. In the meantime, watching your travels through "Corvette World" are an awesome boost with a peek at the reward we'll have on the other side of the project. Thanks for documenting such terrific experiences and sharing your vast knowledge.
