A well and intsructive video, the product is ahead of others in many well thought out features. Possibly the only industrial application it might not be practical is in a paint booth application. Air filtration outside the booth would be easier to manage with less contaminants entering the filter.

Re the filter safety alarm - does the alarm activate on basis of gross flow rate used through the filter or is it based on the actual build up of particulate matter within the filter? If based on gross flow rate of air having passed through the filter it’s had to see how the alarm could be reliable where the unit might be used in generally clean air environments relatively free from contaminants.
@richardlloyd151
@richardlloyd151 4 жыл бұрын
If air is "relatively free of contaminants", then particulate build up would be expected to be proportionately less. How then, would this make the alarm less reliable?

Hi.. I have a 2017 unit... it will beep and filter red light light even when the filter is cleaned, in a moderate dusty application. I would like to calibrate but it does not seem to work. I press the 2 buttons to have red and blue lights glow but no test. My unit does not have the "flow test" labelled button but 1/2/3 filtering level... Any recommendation please ?

As an allergy and chemical sensitivity sufferer, I was hoping CS2 would work better than non-powered units by providing extra air flow for intense work. However, the gaskets, tubes, and other materials used in the construction off-gass very strongly (incomplete silicon curing? Plasticizers?). The off-gassing is beyond comparison with standard non-powered respirators from major suppliers; it smells as if one walked into the HomeDepot paint section. For me, it's a deal-breaker. In addition, the blower LPM is quite limiting, and one cannot "suck" through it. Thus, at high work loads, the unit has a higher resistance compared to standard non-powered respirators. Max human air intake intake is 200 lpm, corresponding to 400 lpm peak "in" flow rate. The unit's blower is rated at 100 lpm. Thus, if one exerts oneself beyond that even for a few seconds, one can faint. Finally, the blower is quite loud, but that would not be a deal breaker for me provided that the unit did not off-gas.

it has a 220 lpm max air flow not 100lpm. i've not noticed off-gasing. same silicone masks used in medical devices.

Maybe you got a defective one. The one I got has no off-gassing whatsoever. I find it to be superior to the non powered respirators I used to wear. Even when I'm exerting myself I get plenty of airflow. This thing has totally spoiled me I could never use a non-powered respirator again.

For folks that don't know, part of the allure of a PAPR system is that it does not require a good seal on the face to be effective because of the positive air pressure. This makes it a great option for bearded folk - since beards interfere with the seal of the mask on the face. Since this system isn't constant flow, it raises the question as to whether it requires a good seal to be effective. I think this is very cool technology - but whether it would work well with a beard is not directly addressed. He did briefly go over how it reacts to temporary breaks in the seal, but if you have consistent low level leak (such as a beard might produce) I'm not confident in how it would behave. Perhaps the resistance form the partial seal would be enough for it to keep the pressure on, but when it is completely off the face (no seal) it turns itself (as a feature). Therefore, it would need to be able to make a distinction between a constant leak of a partial seal and the constant leak of no-seal, and for this to work you would probably need a reasonable seal - so it might not work with really large beards. I like the low profile and the fact that I could use this without a paired specialized helmet. As cool as the core pressure technology is, it would be nice if there was an override for traditional constant-flow mode, or a minimal baseline pressure. That way it could still be safely used with various beards - even if at a reduced efficiency of battery and filter.
