Yesssss but I go back to the original skaters in the 70’s man it was just good fun they closed all the local major rinks in jersey up until then I still went and still have my skates I’m 59 still got it though just no where to go😢

It looks like the skaters had adapted modern dance styles and ice skating jumps into rollar skating. Grew up skating in the late 60s and 70s on the east side of Cleveland in Painesville. This has been fun to watch.

Dat ain' true. I grew up skating some 35 years ago and people's conduct got the rinks shut down. Fighting, guns, swinging skates up-aside folk heads. Right now things seem cool~I can only hope history doesn't repeat itself.

Had all that and most every move in here in Wisconsin/ Illinois border in the 80's. when people fell down at my old rink me and my friends would race to jump over their bodies, I'd do 180's and 360's over people...

​@@wagfinpisThings dooche bags do: Instead of helping an injured person up, you jump over them putting them at even more of a risk of getting hurt. You could've fallen on someone.

@giggles1219 Ya, I guess I was a dooche bag. I don't know why we felt like it was ok to do that, but If I saw my 13 year old self doing that I would probably think he and his friends were being insensitive too. *as for falling on someone I should have been more considerate, but I did go to the rink and skate dripping with sweat from head to toe for at least 12 hours a week. I have abnormal stamina and being athletic is the only thing I have ever been able to do right, so I have always been missing some social skills and I was kind of doing what the others were already doing I was just twice as good from practicing 3 times more and twice as hard.

@giggles1219 Skating was something I did to escape my weaknesses, but jumping over people was obviously just my weaknesses coming full circle. A few times when I was skating at the rink in my town or the next town I heard a bunch of girls screaming because of how I was moving around the floor. I tried every weekend to hear those screams again but it only happened a few times. I was just jumping over people for attention, same as jumping my bicycle over people or ollie-ing skateboard over people or jumping over fences or off of a house or whatever I could do lots of coordinated tricks in the air with bicycles and skateboard, roller skates just felt significantly easier to coordinate everything with. I could even do an ollie on my skateboard with my rollerskates on. It was still a risk when jumping over people but when I saw them doing it instead of being the voice of reason and leadership I was an insecure 13 year old that just saw how I could do it better and more ease.

Man that was well said. And warm, pure-hearted, specific feedback like that - must have made some days, weeks, months, and years. It’s just getting so rare to hear deep and genuine kindness. That makes my day. I feel have to recognize it when I come across it. It’s not 6am yet and no coffee intake yet. So I didnt do my best. But it’s hard (for me) to relocate any comment on KZfaq. Had to lob it. Thank you for sharing your kindness and big heart, especially on a very public platform. I know this seems like a VERY weird note. I haven’t found a graceful, much less not weird way, to thank anyone for setting an example and leading the way. We all need more of this-more kind words, patience. And I think it’s a blessing that people can hug again. So many were alone and their health put them at high risk. believe for ~3 years including now, we wake up everyday and see the world is upside down and on fire. So no hugs for the isolated. @evajodixon5935 At my rink in the 80's everyone skated like jam with speed boots; I had speed boots and skated fast too, but somehow I had that JB in my DNA, cuase I was flying around the rink skating every which directions with smooth loose style. lol jumps spins air or ground, hand springs, breakdance moves, feet and legs turning all kinds of directions. lol! I do miss these times. these videos bring all the memories back and I see some stuff I wasn't doing but it really takes me back.

@@Isis042166 that's really nice. I wish we had skating like that here (Memphis). Mostly we just have crime. Ha .. 😒 if we did this someone would shoot up the skating rink, I assure. It would go from skating rink to a crime scene with a quickness.
