If I arrogantly attempted Jaco's version of Donna Lee you would see the same result. Wouldn't warrant being called out for it, except the apparent hubris of an intermediate player choosing a song beyond his skill level to attempt to dunk on his critics. @@ZenthexThat makes sense. I'm a bassist first, and primarily an acoustic player when it comes to guitar, so I don't have perfect clarity about guitar techniques, but I have good sense of rhythm, and your explanation makes a lot of sense of the differences I was noticing. Legato makes notes feel more strung together, rather than individually articulated. It's kind of like when people play the Thunderstruck intro without picking (just tapping) and you think it sounds like the song until you go back and listen to the song and it sounds nothing like the recording because it's not played with a pick. It's easy to shortcut fast lines.

Well, IIIIIIIII liked it (careful how I say that). (We all do, lol.) 'Clover Cover', lol---I can't believe how many experts complain about the pick guard plastic! It's obviously doing double duty...Or seem to think that they could do better. A guitar solo is practically NEVER played exactly the same, ever again. I need to brush up on my air drumming before playing for myself in a few minutes, lol. I can't play LEAD guitar anymore, but I could sure stand in for rhythm and this is an excellent rendition. I'd have smiled at the end also---Great job!🥁!🥁!🥁!
