I've had 2 things on my bucket list for a while now - sat-gazing in Brecon Beacons national park and hiking Pen y Fan to watch the sunrise. In an attempt to live life to the fullest (or just because I'm crazy maybe), I decided to give it a go and climb the highest peak in South Wales in the dark. It...did not go according to plan.

I did exactly the same a few years ago. Loved the climb. Loved the view of yhe rising sun.🥰 As you say. Be aware that things can change on the mountain. My bergen may weigh a bit. But I have everything I may need for weather changes or emergency!!!

Good video with a really valid point. So many folks think the weather at the bottom car park is what’s it’s going to be like at the top. I’m up there regularly but am always aware it can literally be like 3 seasons within 15 minutes of walking. Like you say it’s a straightforward walk but you can get caught out easily…it’s really a different beast in the winter with snow on the hill as well.

This is exactly it and something I'll remember for next time. It doesn't matter what the weather is like down on the ground. Up there it's like a whole other universe lol
