After having this rack for one year, I am very happy with it, and I made a good decision to get this. It works perfectly for me for one bike. I get the bike on and off really quick. I made a ramp out of wood that works perfectly. It is nice not to have to lift my e-bike anymore. At first, I was a little nervous because my bike does wiggle a bit when I drive, but it is being held at the tires and it is not going anywhere. I also like the way it folds up when you are not using it. I got the license plate holder too, it works great. Yes, it was expensive, but I love it and think it is a great rack.

I does look like it is an evolution of the 1UP, but what caught my eye was the little dolly he put the NV rack on. Seems like you have been on a quest for a while to find the perfect bike rack. Exhaust clearance looks good. Man with 4 trays that thing is huge. Looks good.

Nice rack I have the OneUp and am totally happy with it. About those included cable locks on some racks?? They just give bike owners a false sense of security. They can be cut with anything above nail clippers. I have the wheel locks and use those if stopping for lunch or post ride refreshments and I’m in a very safe area, otherwise I use a very heavy duty New York Fogetaboutit chain with its shackle lock, the whole thing weighs 30lbs. Short of an angle grinder and a lot of time, no one is getting through that and stealing my bikes. Nice preview!

Nice video, Clint. I was an early adopter and waited a year as well. I got a two bike set up and a buddy bought the 4 bike. It’s really a solidly built rack with a lot of easy to use features. Best rack I’ve ever owned. I would say my only complaints would be that the tilt pin gets a little “sticky” with add-on trays, and the blue tray-fold button is a little awkward to use without setting the tray on the ground (which I try to avoid so I don’t scratch the tray). Regarding integrated locks and extras like other racks may have, I have found that they really aren’t that secure and just add cost and weight to the system. I’d rather have a super easy and bombproof rack like the Mach 2 and use external cables or stands of my choice. Finally, as you can hear in this video, the solid build of QUIKR rack is evident every time a lever or button or lock is used. The sound of machined CNC aluminum is 👌

I've been having the Kuat NV2, with the add-on, for a couple of years and loved it so far. Placed an order on QuikrStuff 1+1 add on a few days ago. It's now roughly 2-month wait time.The obvious advantage would be the 1 bike only setup, which I use most of the time. It drastically cuts down the weight and would be much easier to put away with its foldability. Once it comes in and be used to my satisfaction, I may order more addons and sell the Kuat.

I went all in with a 4 bike 1Up rack set this past early spring. At the time I was aware of QuikrStuff, was really impressed, but boy when I priced it out for 4 bikes I about fell out of my chair. Its a pretty big price jump compared to even 1up which is not a cheap system itself. Now that I've owned my 1up for half a year, I can see how all those little improvements add up though.... Not requiring the special hex wrench that 1up requires is really nice. I'm always afraid of loosing that thing.
@rezenclowd3
@rezenclowd3 2 жыл бұрын
Theres nothing special about the hex wrench, they can be bought. FYI the Quikr is quite a bit heavier and still ~4.2 inches longer with 4 bikes, which is quite a bit more load on a hitch, and makes it even more annoying with 4 bikes. I think the 1Up is the better buy for 3-4 bikes, but then I would be inclined towards a Velocirax after carrying 5 bikes with my 1up setup.

Just installed the 1Up and never heard of Quickr. The tool free removal would be great and easy add-on of additional rack would be nice. Would also be nice to carry my fat bike without an extra kit. But extra weight, length, and almost double the cost definitely keeps me happy with the 1Up. Nice video!

I agree for all the same reasons you covered. I live off the mainland in the U.S. territory of Pierto Rico. 4 trays plus the shipping costs and wait time just puts it out of reach for most folks. Until I find the need to carry a 120 pound ebike my 1up with it's four 75 pound weight limited trays is fine.
@fivebonds
@fivebonds 8 ай бұрын
@@Index-o1234 My comment didn't age too well. The 1Up that i had was a 1 1/4 hitch that included the 2" adapter. We ended up getting a car with a 2" hitch and after moving the rack to that car, it looked like there was a lot more flex and movement in the rack. We ended up ordering the Quikr and love it. We often keep the single base on there, but it is so easy to add or remove an attachment without any tools. It is really heavy duty and don't need any adapter for fat bikes.

I have a Saris Superclamp 2x and while I love it for the most part this addresses some of the weaknesses it has including the full-length tray so the tires aren't locked into cups, the all-metal construction as that is one of the biggest weakness of the Saris (especially on the lever which broken once and was replaced under warranty), and ability to fit a wider range of tire heights and widths. The extensibility on the QuikrStuff going from 1x to 4x is pretty awesome too. Most of the time I only need a 1x so it'd be nice to take off the extra slot when not needed.

This rack is better than I thought. There are some quirks, like the tilt lock not clicking into place (maybe it needs to be lubricated?) and all racks this style let the front wheel flop a little too much. I wish they would make a sliding wedge you can click into place to hold the front wheel steady. I'll probably wait until availability isn't ridiculous to check one out.

I ordered one this summer, so waiting, but the features it has over the 1Up are the reasons I went with it. I have a Yakima HoldUp (it's fine) and Northshore 6 (love it, but too big). This will probably replace both due to how easy it is to move from car to car and how much less space you need for storing. But it's def a LONG wait, but like you said I like supporting US based start ups.

Great video, Clint! I also waited almost a year to receive my Mach2 base and one add-on. Have now been using them for about 2 months and can’t say enough good things about this system. Built like a brick sh*thouse. Completely stable even with my ebike approaching 80lbs. Still awaiting the integrated loading ramp (ordered much later) which will save my back with the ebike. One clarification for Clint - you WILL still be able to tilt rack back for rear hatch access even with 4 bikes loaded - each additional rack steps up enough in height to allow this. Bottom line - if you want one, order now so you’ll have it for spring riding!

Beautiful rack. I’ve debated the receiver rack a lot. Right now I’m roof fork mounted. My reservation is blocking the lights and license plate and getting a ticket or the safety of a car not seeing brake lights. The other concern is having $10K wiped out from someone texting behind me. I do love the receiver concept though.

I was recently rear-ended and my passenger side tray along with the 15-degree plate was damaged, no bike on the rack thankfully. The nice feature of the original 1UP's is they are repairable, for $100 I was able to order the replacement parts. I really like the improvements on this version, especially the hitch pin, tool-less blue locking device, and the ease of install of the add-ons. 99% of the time I have it as a single so it's not something I have to deal with regularly, but can be a pain. Nice unboxing and setup video. I'm still waiting on mine. Looks like December for me. Couple of thoughts. Cable locks are about worthless so I won't miss that feature. I wouldn't leave my bikes on my rack with just a cable lock even if going into a store for a few minutes. I've got the NV and don't even use my cable lock at all. I don't leave my bike out of sight. The license plate holder is neat but I'd be afraid someone would steal my plate. It's a sad state of the world to have to worry about these kinds of things. The real perfect rack is one that you buy just the base receiver hitch that can stay on as a flat piece of metal you cannot bang your shins on. Then all the bike racks are add on pieces. That way when I go out I just quick snap on the trays, if I need the hitch I quick remove the bike hitch and throw it in the trunk. My wife always complains the racks being left on when getting groceries. I know it has a tool less removal but make the whole thing modular, less parts and easier use

My only observation, and something I can see being a little cumbersome is getting the wheel over the arm initially and also ratcheting down to the tire since the bike is just free to move until it hits a stop. @@brandonmartin1239 thanks, I've never owned one except those cheap jobs. I have a home-made set up in a truck bed but my main bearing has started leaking oil so I've switched to my car and have been looking for one. The bike shop has a few but want over $500 and it blocks the tail lights. I will look into the one you mentioned. I can tell you one thing, another truck is out of the question. The rate in N.C. is around 25 grand for 150,000 mile truck even if one could be found. Crazy. Again, thanks for your reply.

Kuat Piston X, similar concept, is coming in the spring and looks so much nicer. I don’t understand why they had to use so many different colors (gold, blue, red, silver, black) and a big white logo. I really like how Kuat makes good looking racks that look good on the vehicle. I do wish my NV 2.0 didn’t touch the bike, but it really works well, looks good, and has integrated cable locks.

The Piston Pro X does not have a 1-bike base expandable to 4 total and the base alone is nearly $1400! You could get an entire 4-bike setup with the Mach 2 for that price. Plus for the Kuat is availability (maybe).

"You gotta pay now". You're not kidding! $1800 for a 4 place rack? The Thule is, arguably, a better rack and for 4 trays, you're at $1150 or almost another whole 2 place Thule. No thank you.

300lbs for a 3 bike rack set up on their 2 inch option is the best I have seen. These bikes can be very heavy and with that capacity, you are probably way under the limit. Nice to see that.

@@michaelohara5703 their website gives different load ratings based on how many racks you have on. 3 racks is rated at 300 but I think 4 racks is rated at 185lbs. I. Guessing it's due to how far out you are going leverage wise and the fact that the connections on the first rack would be stressed extra.

Nice rack but the 1up USA really fits the ticket for a bit less money and can get you the rack much much quicker. To each their own. Certainly a nice rack but their customer service is most probably much slower in shipping replacement parts as well if you are waiting 6 months or longer for new builds still.

Great review but the only thing I see any issue with this rack is carrying the ebike on top of it. Ebike are heavy maybe the first couple of time you will not mind but after a while putting on and off. Hollywood bike rack make a rack with a ramp which comes on and off.

Nice review and the system looks great. My only question goes to the the length of the tongue that slots the rack to the towbar. I have a Pajero with a spare tyre mounted on the back of the vehicle. This means that the rack has to be positioned at least another foot or so back from where it would normally be in order for the bikes to clear the tyre. Does the tongue come with additional length or can the mounted be changed to fit a towball on an existing extended tongue?

Can't really see any advantage this has over a Thule and the Thule, like Kuat, has bike locks. Other than adjusting the number of bike trays via toolless but I've never had a need for that.

I have a mountain bike and a triathlon bike with deep carbon wheels. Having a rack that locks down on the top of the wheels is a huge bonus versus the strap that wraps around the rim. I have a 1up rack and its perfect. This looks like an upgraded version of that rack.

Mice. This looks a lot like a 1 up but costs more. The separate tools add security to the 1 up. Otherwise, i like the enhancements Mach 2 offers but I’m not convinced they are work the extra money over the already expensive 1 up. Don’t think I’ll be trading my 1 up just yet.

I need a 2-E bike carrier. If I understand this correctly, that would cost a grand? And the wait time is 6 months? No doubt this looks like a great bike rack. I was queued up to buy the 1-Up until I saw this review. But the cost and wait time is too much for me. I'll stay with 1-Up. Get what I need in a week and save $400.

Looks like the locking bolt with spring could loosen and a whole tray could fall off going over a bump. Is that bolt welded in place to prevent it ?? If it is or at the very least RED locktited well then I guess I'd perhaps trust it. But I'd check bolts often until im convinced. Not trying to be negative but it'd be a shame if a bike fell off.

On these types of racks the pins really don't do anything at all to hold the rack into the receiver. Once you tighten the wedge, the rack is secure. The pin really just lines it up before you tighten it.

i like 90% of the stuff about this rack except the tilting down. imo, it's a design flaw that they didnt put one more notch for it to tilt down into a medium down position. the way it is...w/ 3 bikes (normal for us) it tilts down so far it's nearly impossible to use the tilt. and that's a deal breaker for us.
