Los Angeles Fire Department Engine 17 was dispatched to the intersection of 7th Place and Mission Road for reports of a vehicle fire. They arrived to find two large RVs fully involved with fire. An additional engine (Engine 25) was requested. The fire was extinguished with hand lines and the wagon battery. No injuries were reported.

Engineer had a supply coming, should have utilized the wagon battery a lot sooner. Managing his tank water before hand lines were open. Captain on wagon battery, firefighter on hydrant, other firefighter on hand line and engineer at panel. Additional companies are arriving. Exposers are a concern as well as power lines.

It is baffling how long it takes to get a decent stream of water on a fire in these major metro areas. These fire departments have BILLIONS of dollars of equipment, lots of trained personnel and they roll up to fires and it's like watching the three stooges most of the time. Mass confusion. Not sure I've seen one of these videos where it appears a highly oiled machine is working. For those in the know, go ahead and blast away. Educate me on the ins and outs of fire fighting. I know what I would do - GET WATER ON THAT SUMBISH ASAP.

This was a clear-cut case for using a master stream. This wasn't just a car fire; this was the equivalent of a couple of small semi trucks going up with multiple exposures. Good for the LAFD for busting out the deck gun here - it knocked the fire down in under a minute.

Spent some time living in a Transit Van and for those asking how they both caught fire....my guess is they were sharing 1 or more extension cords and that spread from 1 the other. I've seen quite a few people's homes(rv's) go up like this and it's said. Usually from a faulty heater or wiring that's old. They burn so fast that even if FD gets on scene within 2 mins the RV is gone

That's scary. Im as former volunteer FF. And i actually live full time at a campground in a 32ft towable. I know most rvs and campers use propane for the HVAC water heater and stove. And some use propane as a coolant for the fridge/freezer units. But in transit you are not supposed to have full tanks on board but people forget so that's still a factor.

Look at how much total destruction was evident loons before F D finally showed up, despite the fact the smoke must have bee visible fo sseeveral miles! The roofs and sides of R V’s were down to near chassis by time F D showed up. Did they come from San Diego? And only 2 engines showed up initially,& this fiasco was in an industrial area, where were witnesses,& nothing happened to alert authorities of massive R V conflagration! Fire response was very poor!

I never understood why we don't have hose reels on our rigs here where you could get some water on a fire in seconds while the rest of the guys wait until the place is burned to the ground before they get water on it. If you watch enough US fire videos, you'll see time and again a small fire that could be attacked upon arrival if they were so equipped that could be greatly mitigated while the hoses get up and running. It's infuriating. That deck gun was a great help in this case.

Bet you're a volley who gets their rocks off on any chance to dump on a career dept. Looks like they had pressure issues in the first few min. Also the response time alone for these type of calls blows volleys out of the water so there's that. They'd still be in their pickup with blue lights on pulling out of their driveway when these guys are pulling a line.

Nick you’re wrong. First line should have been placed between the RV’s and the structure. They should have used the tank water, saving time, while the supply line was established. Nice job by the engineer placing the deck gun in operation. And that comes from 33 years of experience.

@@CaptainRon13 what does that have anything to do with what I said or the fact that it appeared there was pressure issues? nothing that's what.

This is why you never use extension cords! they get way to hot. another thing never leave a Motorhome unattended for more then 15 mins running with anything plugged in. I know about pull behinds and Rvs. Thank you for puttin out the fires and Praise God, Blessings no injured or death this day in fires?

I feel for the homeless people but looking at the closest RV you can see a funnel in the gas tank just sitting there. Great job by the fire fighters! The US really needs to deal with the homelessness in California though, it's a tragedy!

The Homeless have mismanaged their lives. The very first thing is to learn the "Responsibilities of Adult Living". Life is the Hardest most Painful thing that will ever happen to any of us. The best that we can hope for is to "Die in our sleep". The hardest part of life is being ridiculed for 50 years for working hard and being responsible only to have your success reduced to "You got Lucky". I'm not where I am because I got lucky. I'm where I'm at because I kept getting up no matter how shitty life was. Nobody cares if you're happy, only if you can meet your responsibilities.
