The swelling on her left (our right), is indicative of heart failure. She has had one sided swelling of the face before, and it is incredibly concerning. I know Chantal doesn’t care, and is rather a lost hope - HOWEVER, for anyone who struggles with this, along with trouble breathing, significant water retention, coughing, etc., for the love of all that is holy, get yourself in to a doctor, or better yet, go to the ER.

I can't believe they think that is humid! I live in San Diego, and it's not typically humid here (we are usually a comfortable temp and humidity year round). But when the winds reverse and we get hot Santa Ana winds blowing from the desert the humidity drops to around 15% - it's painfully dry at that humidity! I get headaches and super dry skin, I hate it. I think Salah says it's humid and she parrots him because 1) he's dumb, and 2) they want it to sound even worse as an excuse for her immobility. Even at 20% (which Kuwait is today), it is very low

@oneseeker2
@oneseeker2 Ай бұрын
My opinion from years of experience in Independent living and Assisted Living, is his because she can walk does not mean she is independent, she is unable to take her meds correctly, or refuses, unable o fix herself healthy portioned meals, in all appearances hygiene is poor so assisted needed on a regular basis, she is a very high fall Risk, assisted to wheel chair, no medical person will hurt themselves when trying o help her. How WIll she sit!/fit at a regular table AND chair, can be done. Np assisted loving would take her, rest home only. Her care at home would take more than one Caregiver, look at her size, add everything else. She insist wearing all those hot heavy clothes, believing she is hiding her clothes, she hides nothing. She needs a serious intervention right now if their is even a splinter of hope. Its all Sad and tragic

It's an intriguing concept, but a bit over my head. She's not going to comply with anything, and her family is too far to force anything.
@deefitzpatrick5810
@deefitzpatrick5810 Ай бұрын
@mariem…are you in the UK? Here in the US Chantal would more likely qualify for assisted living than for a nursing home…if we were limiting her options to just those two. As long as she is mobile, is alert and oriented and doesn’t have dementia, she would qualify. Her non-compliance issues would need to be evaluated by medical and mental health professionals….but I don’t think they would disqualify her. I’m in my 70’s and worked in long term care. I’m not sure how it works in the UK (would love to learn) but here in the US there are many people far worse off than Chantal who struggle to manage at home…either alone or with minimal help. In fact, Chantal is in far better shape than many others who care for themselves. It can be a very long legal process to force someone to accept assistance here but I’m not sure about countries with nationalized healthcare. Edit….sorry…I was asking @oneseeker if she is in the UK, not @mariem. Sorry about that…I’m old.😅

I am also from the US and worked in, essentially, a long term PHP (administration, not direct service, but a lot of contact with the consumers). I would like to know what precisely becomes the difference between continuing to live without oversight and being under care. What ADLs make for the difference between independence and not?
@PointsofData
@PointsofData Ай бұрын
@@deefitzpatrick5810 I think a massive issue here in qualifying her for help is her medical non-compliance for her entire life. They wouldn't need evaluated per se, she'd need to PROVE compliance, she has years of medical evaluations proving non-compliance even before her diabetes and all that. In the US, if you're having insurance pay for it I'm 1000% sure you have to show compliance with what the caregivers need you to do, and compliance with all your doctors. You can't just ask for them to pay for caregivers but then purposefully worsen your health and not take your medications...theoretically, if she came here and got insurance she'd have to pay into that insurance for awhile before gaining access to higher end benefits wouldn't she? She's not paid into the system enough to qualify automatically for SSDI (even going off of her work history in Canada it wouldn't be enough work), she'd have to go to doctors long enough to establish a medical history to even have a shot at SSDI, and she's not even old enough to automatically qualify for Medicare. Surely it's a similar pickle for her in Canada, she can't just automatically qualify for assisted living without paying anything or working with doctors beforehand.

I live in the American southeast. I visited Charleston SC in April. It was 80-82 degrees with 20-30% humidity. Some friends from the NE were with me and they complained about how hot and humid it was. I was like… “girl! Come back in July. This is almost winter weather here” Foodie was cold in Canada in the winter and now she’s hot in Kuwait in the summer. I’m starting to think it’s her 😑

Humidity 67 at 90 degree temp today In my home town. Wait till real summer temps hit and that humidity increases. It is like living in a foundry outside. Foodie has no idea of real dangerous heat. I climbed a mile up a straight rock trail in 112 degrees in AZ on a trip when I was younger. It was low humidity and based on where I was raised, east peasy.

Aww, you’re so sweet. We all know that Foodie ate twice as much as you estimated. If she can gobble down an entire large pizza (and likely the second one too), she can eat all that was on that table plus anything 🍇💩boy left behind. (Sorry, when it comes to him, I can’t be nice) As for her face bloating, I suspect it was approximately the same from restaurant to car, since the filters in the restaurant were on max! As usual, I enjoyed your video! So nice that you do this for us. ❤

That filter fail is wild - they have to be working overtimes to create that much distortion. It's around 70% humidity here today. Absolutely stifling outside, but I was still physically active outdoors earlier in the day. Heat and humidity are the pits, but you still have to live your life. I love Indian, it's what I usually get as my Friday night take out treat. I drink water, forgo appetizers (they just aren't necessary with the amount of food you get). The amount of rice, naan, and one entree they give you for one person, is really enough for two generous portions with a little rice left over. I split everything in half, and safe the leftovers for the next day and still end up with rice I didn't eat. If I were her, I would plate what I was going to eat, and go ahead and pack up the rest to avoid picking at it and eating in excess.

Her going up the stairs was alarming. I have chronic pain/balance/neurological issues from chronic illnesses and she struggled way way more than I do. The restaurant seemed lovely but they looked so out of place there and foodie bringing up going to texas roadhouse next time really highlights how food/eating are the main focus of her mind. If an addict of any other kind talked about their vice as much as foodie does they wouldn't have a monetized channel on youtube and their family/friends would have an immediate intervention. I don't feel empathy/sympathy for foodie though because she chose to be exactly where she is and her health issues are all things she did to herself. It's sad that she cares more about instant gratification than she does her own quality of life.

This helped me a lot from a previous comment I made about this date night. Chantal, like Amber, refuses to count her sodium, even though both of them suffer greatly from heavily salt laden diets. They refuse to stop eating their favorite foods, so no matter what anyone says, they are not going to change. The addiction to high salt, sugar and carbs is a hallmark of food addiction, based on medical articles that I have read, and they have to deal with this through a controlled diet and deal with their mental issues before they can overcome it. They have to have cognitive therapy to realize where their thought patterns are distorted, how to disentangle from past experiences which led to the need to get get excess pleasure from food, how to fill their lives with something else when they have lost weight and can contemplate doing other things than eat to fill their lives.

With the diabetes that she currently has she can’t afford to be eating high volume of carbs, especially simple ones. She’s not sticking to the wholegrain type because takeout comes with highly processed food and she doesn’t want to cook. Plus the white stuff converts immediately to sugar in her system and she gets a quick rush of it, feeding her addiction. So she likes it. I will say this though, that people are making wrongly a huge fuss in general about carbs and diabetes. Once you have the illness you must stay away from them, but carbs themselves don’t cause the condition. Obesity does, based on processed food, animal products and fats, as well as sugars. I can verify this because I don’t eat any animal products, I ingest a lot of carbs. I have tried to cut down my sugar although I’m still having some in my drinks and sweets and I don’t have diabetes. I have very healthy blood sugar levels. Yes you can put on weight if you don’t expend the energy derived from carbs. I have put on a few kilos in the last couple of years because of a less active routine but I’m not morbidly obese. So I’m here to say that the keto diet which focuses on high fat and meat intake and other diets like it, are absolutely detrimental to your health. I’ve heard a doctor say the same thing. Carbs provide you energy and are not bad if you lead an active, healthy life, are low on processed foods and don’t consume animal products. You of course have to be mindful to get your protein from plants that are high in it and your iron by consuming legumes, seeds, greens and other such superfoods. Most diseases are caused by animal fat, meat, processed foods, junk food like Macas, Wendy’s, Jollibee, pizza etc, stress and inactivity.
