Here in this video you will learn how to repair/ modify wall clock movement or mechanism if your wall clock needs battery to be replaced monthly. If you will do this modification to your wall clock a single ordinary AA battery would last longer more than a year! Hope you will like this repair or modification video.

Thank you very much! This video proves that quartz clock that consumes much battery power can be repaired. So that people will no more get tempted to throw out the old damaged clocks into garbage or by the side of road. This video proves that the small peizo electric motor inside the quartz clock moments can be repaired. Please upload another video that shows connecting electronic chime that hourly play melody and count the hours to quartz clock moment..

Meu irmão, não há legendas em português, por isso não entendi bem o que fizeste. Gostaria de entender pois estou com relógio apresentando o mesmo defeito. A imagem também não me ajuda pois assisto pelo celular. Obrigado. 🇧🇷

Very good video jahan :-D Noticed the snappy edits, nothing lost and faster for you to upload :-D. I have never thought about modding the coil on battery clocks, but you have created a very interesting mod :-D. The worry was about the resistance being higher would produce a weaker pulse in the coil, but you have created a bigger magnetic field :-D I'm sure the increased back E.m.f won't be enough to cause a problem. You are a very clever man, i would not have thought that way. I had to take one of my battery clocks apart last week, the battery had a leak and it wicked up the spring contacts into the clock and made a mess of the pcb power pads. How dare that clock fail, its only lasted 15 years ha ha :-D ( a sarcastic joke at the manufacturers ).

The manufacturer saved the expensive copper wire, easily the most expensive part on the whole clock, by only using half the amount of wire, so the current is very high. Still will work, but now will have a loud tick. With more wire lower current, same magnetic field and lower noise as the current slowly ramps up each pulse. No problem with back EMF anyway as the driver shorts the coil at the end of each pulse to damp the magnet, so there is no EMF at all, and this actually lowers the current flow in the coil during the end of pulse anyway, I also have some clock mechanisms that have been running for a long time, the one has been running for over 30 years, and it is a chiming mechanism, so a replacement one is very much more expensive over the standard mechanism. The mechanism that will benefit the most is the constant sweep ones, where the clock runs at 8 Hz, as these use up a lot of the battery capacity very fast, so you are changing the battery pretty much every 2 months or so on them.

@@SeanBZA Thankyou, i really didnt think about the manufacturer skimping on copper wire. I try not to think in a negative way, makes sense that the cob chip was designed to be forgiving with the inductance current, but people skimping is sadly a bad habit :-(. I have repaired a lot of electronics over the years and t.v sets had a lot of corners cut with component lifetime, i used to repalce parts with uprated ones to keep it going for longer. Capacitors seem to be very low quality in modern sets, skimping again :-(

Wow sir, great. You have learned me many new words! Minimum for me they are new as I'm not an English native speaker. Anyhow I'm trying to learn. Greatly from you. Wonderful. :-D

@@JahanZeb1976 Yes i am english, but i am not the ideal person to learn from, not perfect. I had a lot of trouble learning anything at school, i think i had a faulty brain lol. My english and spelling is not perfect and punctuation is something i guess, so remember that i make mistakes. i learnt electronics in a visual way, the mathmatics and calculations were impossible for me to understand. Learning patterns in circuits and what a circuit does/needs came later. You are far smarter than i will ever be, and that's excellent :-D

really cool tip. but could you use a resistor in series with the coil to add the extra OMH's needed to lower the over all current consumption?? would that work too? Anyone????

One of my clock will run for 30 minutes and then suddenly stop, then I have to shake it and it works but then stops again, what is the solution.

Generally poor contact between the battery and the metal contacts, or between the metal battery parts and the copper on the board in the clock. Take apart as shown and clean the contact surfaces carefully with alcohol, and then assemble again and clean the battery contacts and the battery itself. Should help.

i would agree with SeanBZA.. that should fix your problem. if not. Check all the pins the gears are on to see if any has imperfections on them or if any of the gears are missing a tooth or two.(if this is the case scrap it and replace the unit. unless you can replace that particular gear from another clock you might have that you can sacrifice that's the exact same size and tooth number). but SeanBZA's suggestion should fix it up for ya.

What I did with this clock, if you will do with any ordinary clock; an ordinary battery would last for more than a year. Your Duracell may be last for another one more added year!

What would be the costs for replacement of ignition key cylinder?? Or do I have to replace the key as well?? Please provide all necessary details if replacement is required.
