FILM DESCRIPTION:
Nineteen-year-old "Strike" Dunham (Mekhi Phifer) is a small-time street drug dealer for Rodney Little (Delroy Lindo), who wants Strike to kill a former dealer who stole from him. When the man turns up dead, Strike is suspected. But before homicide detective Rocco Klein (Harvey Keitel) has a chance to investigate, Strike's brother, Victor (Isaiah Washington), confesses to the crime -- and Klein suspects that Victor, a virtuous family man, is trying to cover up for Strike.

Errol Barnes was truly an evil, scary dude. He even threatened Rodney, and forcing him to execute the dealers was a way of blackmailing him to not rat him out for the murders he committed. He was probably high on heroin here. Chilling scene here with Delroy Lindo and Thomas Byrd, who were frequent collaborators with Spike Lee in his numerous productions.

This reminds me when my dad went to war in Iraq, he told me how the war went on but of course told me the story of his first kill which was a Iraqi soldier. It messed him up and hes getting help for his PTSD.

The beginning of this scene is extremely unrealistic. I know the movie is trying to explain Rodney and Eroll’s past relationship but no one especially a drug king pin starts off a conversation with “Did I ever tell you about the first time I killed somebody?..”

Somewhat true bc most smart guys wouldn’t tell anyone that ever. However there’s another way to interpret this scene I think Rodney only mentioned his first kill to strike to rattle him remember Rodney was quick to kill strike with no hesitation this was a warning for strike.

To everyone who still try to figure why 6 shots... He only fired 2, replayed 2 times... You can't fire six .45 straight headshots at once without the head falling or exploding at first, or even most at second shot.
