UPDATE: Since recording this video, London’s Abercrombie flagship store has closed and a smaller store has now opened on Carnaby Street. Why can’t London hold on to an A&F store?!

In 2007, Abercrombie & Fitch opened a sprawling UK flagship (their first in Europe) at the bottom of Savile Row. That site now sits empty, and they've since moved to a smaller Regent Street location.

I'd recommend checking out the capitol center in Cardiff and festival Park in Ebbw Vale for dead malls

I'm not a fan of retailers taking existing spaces without a build-out, especially a flagship where you're supposed to put your best foot forward. They're doing a similar thing in New York, closing their Fifth Avenue flagship and moving into the former Hollister store down the street. As for the former Savile Row store, RH - Restoration Hardware - will be taking over the former A&F store at some point soon. They've agreed to take over a package of A&F's former European leases.

I’m glad they’ve at least made some changes, but I don’t think the store necessarily feels “interesting” enough to be a flagship. I’ve seen nicer A&F stores in regular US malls! That’s a really interesting note, and I’ll be fascinated to see what RH does in that spot if they do indeed move in there.

this is a massive downgrade but it tracks with how the company has been revamping their stores globally. we've gone from unique experiences to what looks lesser than your typical H&M.

I'm inclined to agree. This place is nice enough, but you could easily mistake it for H&M, Gap, Banana Republic, or various other stores on the same street.
