This is an older video from my phone catching a bit of advice from @JeanJacquesMachadoOFFICIAL for breaking the posture in closed guard. The audio isn’t the best, so try and just watch for the details... but you should be able to hear what he says too..
Push the hands without using our thumb .. if you use your thumb, the grip is weak, whereas the push hands is hard to defend.
When pulling them in to break posture, block and move the hands rather than the elbows or anything else.. as the hands are the base and will just move to find a new base unless disrupted.
Hug them tight with your heels.. your heels should always be lower than your knee when clinching the closed guard. This will keep them tight and hugged to you, giving you control.
@JeanJacquesMachadoOFFICIAL is @twistereddie instructor. Eddie learned and received his belts through Jean Jacque. So we in 10th Planet are all under and connected to him and that lineage as well. JJM is such a wealth of knowledge , still training live rolls with us today (smashing us every time even at his age...) You should definitely go get a subscription to his instructional website Jjm30.com today... He shares the game in such simple clear concepts, you will learn a lot.
