Welcome back!
Finally got around to making a video I should’ve long before now, but it’s finally here, CloudSplitter!
On our way to parking I mention a couple alternate routes that offer more mileage, but in todays adventure I use the CloudSplitter direct trail which is the shortest route.
I was hoping for more photogenic conditions while at CloudSplitter but per usual, there wasn’t good sky interest until after my adventure and I was on the way, just how my luck usually goes!
This hike won’t be for everybody but for those who can make it, the views here won’t disappoint.
For first timers, I hope you enjoy the channel and consider subscribing! For the repeat visitors thanks for the continued support!
Thanks for taking the time to check out my channel and thanks for watching!

Lovely video Rob 😊 the views were great and you took some good photos. I agree such a shame that people have written there names on the rocks 😢 thanks for sharing

Thanks! Yeah it’s a shame people wanna deface nature. Seems like caves/arches are two things that always fall victim to things like graffiti.

I can't wait to try this one! I have been a little intimidated by this trail, but after watching this I'm confident we could do this. LOVE the overlooks!

You could definitely do the overlook, it takes some work to get to the arch tho, that part is pretty tough.

Loved the video D-Rob. Getting in there to see the arch is definitely difficult. Really cool video brother 👍🏻👍🏻

Thanks Jason! I feel like it wasn’t as hard when I was about 25 lbs lighter 😅

Just got down off of Cloud Splitter. The strap for the little rope ladder was broken and I couldn't get up to the arch. 😿 If I had an extra set of hands mighta been able to get up there but too risky on my own.. maybe the 1st step to decommissioning. Haha

It’s a little sketchy getting in and out of there. That strap wasn’t the best assist, it’s days we’re numbered. Maybe somebody will drag another good chunk of tree back up in there for easier climbing! At least you got to check out CloudSplitter, one of the best overlooks in RRG.

Hi, Rob..Thank you for having me at the premiere. Ooops..missing you...but met nice hikers of your audience. Always appreciate your thoughtful information and documentation. Wow...it is getting quite a workout ...10:31..yet...Cloud Spiltter>>>Fat Man Squeezer... Like this footage...11:40..did you leave your camera there or you came down to pick it up? I wonder if fall foliage started more than your footage by now??..12:45 Ohhh..the thin clouds over the blue sky are amazing...14:20, and it's a magical photo...14:34... I didn't think you can get through with your backpack...18:03...really narrow. Kayak7sea will NOT squeeze in there..maybe I can.. Indeed, those paint is rude...20:35, 20 47..no appreciation to this natural beauty.. Very professional... 21:37...Captivating...Fantastic! Is Red River Gorge a State Park? If it is, there should be a contact to request it a proper job here???...22:21 or we will see somebody hurt.. Oh..Nice to know you have a company, Stella. For any emergency...she would be your big help. Have you had her since you started hiking 2 years ago? Wait, I have never seen her while you filming before...Hm.mmm Nice Image of the suspension bridge...27:35 Well done. How do you rate the difficulty of today's hike, 1 to 10, in 10 is the most difficult? Wow..we started "Fat Man Squeeze week"I guess. I thought it was a coincidence and hilarious. Appreciate it if you'd be kind to drop off👍& comment on the latest at Kayak7sea. The nice UK hiker friend, Yasmin came over right after her premiere. I would also appreciate it if you can check her out when you can. 🥰🥰🚣‍♀🚣‍♀

Red River Gorge is a National Forest, not a park. This area, CloudSplitter, ain’t on an official trail so this is not an area that’s maintained by forest service. Suspension Bridge is a 1 but the CloudSplitter area is a 10. I’ve not had much time to watch videos but I’ll be sure to get caught up on y’all’s adventures when I get a chance.

Thanks for the video! The graffiti is disheartening, not just because it ruins the area but that it shows just how vile humans can be. I've hiked all around the world from Colorado to California to Switzerland to Taiwan and unfortunately the only place I've seen stuff like this is in Appalachia, I just don't get it... What exactly do you mean by decommission? The trail out to cloudsplitter is an unofficial user trail I thought. What can the forest service do to keep people off of it? Thanks again, love the content.

I don’t understand it either, such an eye sore. I don’t remember the exact numbers I saw but the forest service is gonna decommission X number of backcountry campsites (illegal/not far enough from trail, road or cliffline) and X number of user/unofficial trails. No exact dates have been given. There’s also been talks of making Copperas Falls trail an official trail and Hansons Point trail too. Usually what the forest service does when decommissioning a trail is piling them full of brush/limbs, trees, etc. Pretty much whatever they have accessible to block/fill the trail. Glad you enjoy the channel and continue to visit, thanks for the support and watching Eric!

If your coming from bison way and sheltowee trace, is the trail past the Indian staircase trail or before?
@ExploringWithDRob
@ExploringWithDRob Жыл бұрын
Way past it. CloudSplitter is roughly halfway between Indian Staircase and the suspension bridge. If you’re looking at a map, coming from Indian staircase, CloudSplitter is on the other side of Greasy Branch.

Would this hike be possible with a dog???
@ExploringWithDRob
@ExploringWithDRob 5 ай бұрын
Going up to the overlook I’ve known of several people taking their dogs up. Getting back into the arch/cave it would be hard, possibly risk injury, so I’d probably skip that tho.

What do you mean by "decommission" when it's already an unofficial trail?
@ExploringWithDRob
@ExploringWithDRob Жыл бұрын
Most of the time they fill the existing trail with brush or cut trees to block off the trail that’s there.
@admay316
@admay316 Жыл бұрын
That would truly be a shame. I better get up there soon while I still can.
