CloudAge is the new board game from Alexander Pfister and Arno Steinwender for 1-4 players. Set in a post-apocalyptic future, you'll control an airship roaming a desiccated Earth in a constant hunt for supplies, crewmates and adventure! It's a terrific light euro game, perfect for casual players who are trying to step up their level of board gaming, or just someone looking for a lighter, shorter euro.
We apologize for this video being a bit longer than usual, but our debate feature ran over and we didn't feel it fair to cut anyone's thoughts!

We really appreciate the kind words! We've been hard at work brainstorming what props we can give the doggos for Dune Imperium...we're leaning towards sandworms...

Appreciate this review a great deal. I think I'll keep this in mind for the future, since it looks neat. I have a pile of legacy and story games waiting to be played already... By the way the doggo cloudship pilot was hilarious!

Yea, I think looking back, CloudAge isn't a game I would say to anyone you should rush out and buy this. If you're looking for a lighter Euro, or trying to introduce people into gaming, then this might be a good bet, but if you've got lots of other games then I don't think it justifies the purchase. Great job enumerating the pros and cons. My votes still out on how much I like it thus far, but I suspect it'll grow on me.

Thanks, we appreciate it! We took to it pretty quickly, but as we said in the review, we are worried about the longevity. Now that we played multiple times over a few weeks, it's kinda been put to the back of the shelf so to speak.

@@BoardOfItReviews So basically, you're afraid you might grow... board of it? ;) Yeah, I do appreciate that the game is lighter fare, but you're right in that it might stunt its long term play for me unless there's an active effort to publish more for it. My biggest issue was the manual obfuscated the simplicity in ways that are making it harder to teach people than it needed to be. Fortunately, it's a static hurdle that has to only be overcome once. :) Good stuff. Looking forward to more reviews. :)

@@hairbrainedgames3127 It's a game we'd defo get out again with a solid expansion. We'll just have to see if one occurs! I agree the manual was a bit....over complex. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what one part was trying to say and turns out that was the part which said about how the city cards have art representing the number of resources they provide.

Good luck with those stickers! We recently got it out and I had to put the stickers on for the third player and it was a nightmare. Great game though, shame it takes eons. You''ll have to let us know what you think :D

This game is as similar to maracaibo as pinquin is similar to bird of paradise, both are birds. One fly the other one swims. I had high expectations, I understood it was a light game but this is to light, there is no decision making at all. I love Pfisters other games. My best comprising would be Scythe and My little Scythe. In the end it will be my 7 year that decides if I'm keeping the game if he likes it it stays if not I'm selling it, it doesn't feel like a game for adults I just would have like that to be upfront from the beginning. There is a bunch of light games with more crunch to theme then this.

Yea, we can understand it being too light. I think we don't mind how light or heavy a game is, but it probably is quite a shock going in if you're a big fan of his other games. Never tried My Little Scythe though, but big big fans of Scythe.

@@BoardOfItReviews I also play light games Splendor, azul, star realms ect. My problem is that there is no crossroads decision. Everything is straight forward, no combining. You have water buy cards. Have metal buy uppgrades. There is alot of components in this game compared to for example splendor but there is not enuff stratigical and tactical challenges and being so light in this peticualar area is for me disappointing. Its not in my opinion a bad game.

Wish that the BGG video for this game that directed here didn't contain profanity. I listen to KZfaq videos and I'm not expecting that without a warning or a login when my little ones are around on a board game video. At any rate w/e - just offensive.

Apologies! Sadly that isn't something we thought about as we are a childless couple, and we only imagined other adults to be watching so I guess till now we never realized that might be an issue. Thanks for bringing it to our attention, and luckily I think we only swear once or twice more in all of our videos.

!I really don't get it. why is almost everything mentioned a comparison between cloudage and maracaibo. just because the author is the same it doesn't have to mean you can only judge his new game by comparing it with another. like it or not but down compare it!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't believe we've only compared it to Maracaibo at all. In fact we only mention Maracaibo about 2 times besides the debate section, where we are specifically comparing and contrasting an element of the game which is exactly identical to Maracaibo. We have several sections dedicated only to the mechanics in this game and what is great/not great about them. We also believe any comparisons are fair as firstly Alexander is a very singular designer in some ways in that his games often feature the same or tweaked mechanisms. Secondly, it's very, very similar to Maracaibo in our opinion. The Airship is the ship, the combat is equivalent to the combat, the legacy elements are exactly the same style, putting cards into play and having crewmembers is exactly the same, etc. Why would we not compare when he has a very similar game which we think is better for a certain group of people? We wouldn't recommend them to get a worse game than a better one.
