$126 aus then another $35 postage. Quite ridiculous for an expansion, I get the 'big box' thing, but this increases price dramatically. If I played Kemet a lot then maybe, but a few times a year nearly $170 not worth it for me unfortunately. And that's with the moderate/high probability the expansion will make the game worse than original play...? Thanks for the vid 😊😊

i have this on my radar...but dont understand whats there to negiotate about in this game...is there a currency or any kind of things implemented in this?in spartacus we can barter almost about anything...money,slaves,guards,gladiators,support for organize games or even really anoying the kingmaking player with really tough schemes together in the intrigue phase....

You can negotiate votes, points, special powers, actions and also extort players not to do harmful things to them. Most of the time you can't move forward without at least some negotiation for votes.

I backed Blood and Sand, but I’m skipping this. I just want a small box expansion. The big box adds significantly to the cost - both for storage and shipping cost. I’m not going to pay $135 for an expansion.
@BoardOfItReviews5 күн бұрын
That's totally fair. I think almost universally people would have been happier having separate tiers, as probably 90% primary want the new tiles and not much else.
@Luke_L5 күн бұрын
@@BoardOfItReviews Yes, definitely would love to have the tiles. Wish Matagot would listen to those of us who would like to back at a simpler level. I realize that they can’t piecemeal out every out every component or module , but there’s gotta be some middle ground. Anyway, I appreciate your concise coverage of the expansion!
@timjones9905 күн бұрын
overpriced and a lot of bloat in this KS, why they couldnt just do the expansion without the big box ill never know, and not to do it on retail is a big mistake. shame as we really enjoy kemet
@BoardOfItReviews5 күн бұрын
Yep this seems to be the general consensus. It's a shame you can't just get the tiles alone!

This looks awesome, kemet is one of oue faves, but would like to buy only the two new color sets of tiles, the whole thing is kinda expensive
@BoardOfItReviews5 күн бұрын
Yea that seems to be what everyone is saying! Totally get that, I think it comes with a fair few things, but they are not all things everyone wants (big box, solo mode, etc.) making it a tough proposition.

I love train themed games, and especially the network building aspect of it. I have a variety of Ticket to Ride (TTR), standalone games and expansions. I’ve been looking for similar but different games like TTR, and recently found On the Underground, New York/Paris maps. I have only played it a few times and really enjoy it. I’ve also purchases Free Ride, although reviews about the map say it’s flawed to easily identify cities and there locations. I haven’t unboxed Free Ride yet. How did I miss this franchise of games? I must try at least one…despite your excellent comparison and analysis, it’s still a difficult choice. I appreciate how you also shared the actual set up time. Very helpful!

I enjoyed this expansion and what it added and changed. I will say the higher player count doesn’t add too much more time considering that you are starting off with one worker along with guile and power. Also, I played the solo mode of this game last week and throughly enjoyed it! Thanks for your review. Happy gaming!

Did you play with 6? Tbf, it does say that in the rules! Glad to hear they weren't making it up.
@MakeTimeForGames16 күн бұрын
At 5 it was just barely over an hour so when the rulebook states about 90 minutes for a six player game may be accurate, assuming you’re playing with experienced players. Unless your experienced players are the types who like to overthink their options :)

Nice review. Off-topic gripe (not a criticism of the reviewers :) ), "Dudes on a map" is such a dreadful label. It's clunky and overly informal and doesn't even describe gameplay that well. We should wrestle the much simpler term "war game" from the 12+hour players. It shouldn't be hard, there are only ... like... what? 15 of them or whatever.
@pellemerckx700620 күн бұрын
I have an eye on this game for a while now but wasn't sure which one to get. This video was very helpful and made clear to me that I'd prefer uprising! I particulary liked how you described your own experiences with the competitivity and sandworms. It provides an insight that I hadn't found other places and really gives the sensation that I am making a weighted choice. Thank you for the great content!

Thank you both for this series. It has been incredibly valuable to me. If you intend on continuing it, may I suggest Memoir '44, War Chest, Race for the Galaxy, Seasons, and Tiny Epic Defenders (2nd edition). These are all currently free on board game arena, so they're easy to test out. And I think RFTG would make a great buyer's guide video. Thanks again.

Thanks for the suggestion! Race for the Galaxy and Memoir '44 we are defo interested in! It's just when we get a chance to try them really...this year we've constantly shifting between review copies we owe reviews for and Kickstarters we've backed coming in so there hasn't been too much time to try the classics unfortunately.

We play them as campaign so we did the party with stolen Amazon artefacts then travel to the Amazon with the basilisk guarding the tomb and then the tomb and now about to go back to London via the blimp we don't want to do the ship as it forced a player to be killed and be evil so story we are skipping it and we keep the weapons and spells and items be get each mission so we get stronger and with 5 players in Australia it's so expensive for the stuff sadly but worth it

I think it's fine, but it's a different type of negotiation as everybody has more power with the roles only being split 3 ways!

Other short railway games on interesting subjects can be found by Hollandspiele (The company Tom Russell founded) They are very interesting. The Soo Line, is the most similar to the Capstone games, but with only THREE companies to invest in some players will not be running companies but just investing in them. My personal favorite is the Dual Gauge series. The base game contains two maps (Portugal and Michigan) but there are three expansions out, each with two maps. The expansions have no extra rules pe sé, but the slight tweaks are all printed on the map so no problems there. This another game by Tom Russell- Here you don't "buy hexagons" but links across hex boundaries. Six pages of rules a really easy teach. (These games are stocked in Europe at Second Chance Games in the UK, but you can download official PnP files from Wargames Vault. )
