A penalty is when a player is fouled in the opposition's penalty box...penalty box is a rectangular and extends 16.5m (18 yd) to each side of the goal and 16.5m (18 yd) in front of it. Within the penalty area is the penalty spot, which is 10.97 metres (36.0 ft) or 12 yards from the goal line, directly in-line with the centre of the goal. So during a penalty the best penalty taker would play the ball from the penalty spot with only the goal keeper to defence his/her goal post...

Penalty shot is taken during the 90 min normal play, if opponent fouls you inside that box area. Other players wait outside the box, but they can join in the play right after the shooter touches the ball. So he can pass it too - though 99,999... % people shoot at the goal of course. Normally the others rushing in may score if the goalie blocks the shot without securing it. In cup tournaments there can be penalty shots after 90 + 30 min extra time, to break the tie - like the ice hockey shootout. Then it's not possible to pass the ball - the others wait in the central circle.

Midfielder is playing behind the forwards. There's 2 or 3 of them, depending on the team: football teams can freely choose how to place their 10 fielders - only the goalie's position is set, because he has to have a different outfit, so the ref can see, who has the right to grab the ball in his hands - which is of course only the goalie. Common ways to set the fielders (forwards 1st, defenders last) are: 3-3-4 (classic, quite rare nowadays) this means the players are roughly at the same line if seen from the side, but of course they move a lot during the game, and the position depends much on where the ball is. Others are 2-4-4, 1-2-3-4 ('Christmas tree'), 2-3-5 (defeence heavy against a more skillful opponenet, or if you want the center defender to be a clear boss and have a lot guys under his command), 3-4-3 (attack heavy: rare, only VERY skillful teams sure of their ball control can pull this off, like Brazil sometimes), 2-3-1-4, 2-1-3-4 (Barcelona, if Messi is that 1 :) ), 2-4-1-3, 2-5-3 … some of these depend how strictly you think of the line, like these last too are nearly the same. Often they show the placement as jerseys placed on the field in the beginning of the game: check some game highlights or international tournaments, or some league or cup finals, like the Champions league. That's the best level of football: the best European teams from many countries compete of the trophy. European teams gather best players from all around the world. Best money leagues are Spain, Germany, France, Italy, England.

A penalty shot is when someone fouls a player in the box then you get to shot but messi dint and passed the ball instead. A penalty can also happen att some matches like champions league game att the end of the game couse it ended in a tie.

a penalty shot in football is when an attacker gets fouled within the white marked area close to the goal, so one attacker gets a free kick against the goal, but Messi did something quite unexpected and passed it to the side, the opponents werent rdy for something like that :) and a hat trick is 3 goals, it is the same thing in all sports, the term comes from cricket, I don´t know the details but some dude did three goals and the fans threw out all their hats :) React to best of Patrick Roy, he was insane when he played, he could hold an entire team together kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qJiXl8do0svNZ2g.html

I guess besides watching Messi's ( THE GOAT) videos, the second Best thing you can do to appreciate more and even get more into soccer is to start playing the game with your family and buddies. It's hard in the beginning but it's a lot of fun. Watch out on your fist runs because it can be deceptively demanding physically the first times you play it.
