Күн бұрын

This is the time of the year ... late April - early May, when clusters of galaxies are available to view in the night skies and you can see them with a small to medium-sized telescope. Let's take a tour of the Markarian chain of galaxies and the great Hercules cluster of galaxies from the heavenly backyard. Being May 1, in astronomy, this is also known as a cross-quarter day. There are 4 of them. I have more information about them. Also, the garden is beginning to bloom and is looking great. I have a brief tour of the heavenly backyard garden at the end of the video.

Hey Pat! Great video! Thanks so much for the shout out mate👍 I love your enthusiasm with these galaxies, they are a mind boggling distance away, 500 million LY and we can see them from our own back yard!! 🤯 Very informative video, your 130 has produced some lovely details, great edit and awesome images as always 👍 The garden is looking good Pat! Clear skies! PS: Like the shirt😀 You blend right in!

Thanks, Simon. That EON 130 is a great scope along with the SkyWatcher EQ6-R Pro mount. I am also impressed with the Player One Poseidon mono camera. The garden is certainly keeping me busy too, but it gives me great joy. Your video deserved that shout out. Grab any clear nights now before you lose your dark skies. I favor a bit better here in May-July with about a good 7-8 hours of dark skies.

@@HeavenlyBackyardAstronomy Thanks Pat, yeah we are 52 dgrs here! Not long now and we loose our astronomical darkness 🙁 The player one is also a favorite of Luke! CS👍

Thanks, Eddie. I remember back in the TV days, I would broadcast severe weather details with warnings and caution and would get comments back not about the extreme weather, but how much they liked my tie! Ha. Well, I do like that shirt. Thanks for your support Eddie.

Great detail and colour definition from the 130! Awesome wider field image as well. Your thumbnail caught my eye as I had recently imaged the Virgo Cluster at 135mm. I was blown away by how many galaxies were visible - you can literally capture 10% of the Messier catalog in a single image. CS!

Hi Pat. Yes, up here in Rochester NY the nights are shorter but the days longer for viewing the sun. And of course my second hobby, gardening. I have something to do all year long lol. Such a wonderful world. Thanks.

Hi Perry, I am guessing you have a solar scope or attachements for solar viewing. Yes, the gardening is a great hobby, plus it helps in one keeping fit. Clear skies, both day and night for you, Perry

Some great detail in "The Eyes" Pat. I have never tried the Hercules cluster but its now on my list.

Hi Clive, Yes, that Hercules cluster in mind boggling, to say the least and we don't need the JWST to see it. We can view it from our own backyard! So many galaxies! Clear skies.

Hi Pat, really like your channel, keeps me wanting to continue to do gardening and astrophotography. I hope to do better at post processing!

Hi John, Thank you. It seems as soon as I learn the post processing techniques, a new one comes out negating all the steps. It's an ever-learning process. Gardening is also a great form of exercise.

Nice video! Question, how long do you leave your scopes outside and what do you do for moisture control under the covers?
@HeavenlyBackyardAstronomy
@HeavenlyBackyardAstronomy 3 ай бұрын
I bring in the cameras. I leave the scopes out. I first cover them with a large beach towel then cover with a 360-telescope cover. They are multiply and quite sturdy. When it get humid, I do hang a desiccant inside. Thank you for watching my video

Sorry to ask this question that is out of subjet but you sir play with the new star lock of celestron could this be used as a EAA with only the eye peace thk you in advance
@HeavenlyBackyardAstronomy
@HeavenlyBackyardAstronomy 3 ай бұрын
Hi David, The Celestron Star Sense Auto Guider (SSAG) is a stand-alone guide scope with a built-in camera and microcomputer. It is used to start align the rig (telescope), and can plate solve to find a particular object. From there, it will auto-guide with high accuracy. I've been getting 5-10-minute sub-frames with round focused stars using it. It needs to be attached to a Celestron type mount. It can be used with the Celestron hand-controller, but I find it to be much easier to use the Celestron Plane Wave Instruments (CPWI) Telescope Control Software.
