Toji's character is so good, it has so many layers, he was treated like garbage by his clan (pretty much sorcerer royalty) because he didn't have cursed energy at all, but because of this his physical was juiced. The clan couldn't see his strength as a valid one because he was something that was the opposite of what they thought strength was, cursed energy and technique. He leaves the clan and has a kid and ends up abandoning him, even selling him to the clan he had left. To Toji, his son had potential and he himself (despite how strong) was a failure, his son would be better off in the one place he would never be accepted himself, now he also sold his kid for money too absolutely a deadbeat and no excuses but his character symbolizes letting go (both good and bad at times) and the power dynamics involved in a living a life purely for yourself. The powers of the characters in jjk usually reflect the characters ideology or makeup, Toji was robbed of cursed energy at birth so his body was free in a sense, he lives up to that nature.

Also Toji had no cursed energy because of the ability that was placed on him called "Heavenly Restriction" which heightens every aspect of his physique to it's peak allowing him to perceive and interact with Cursed Spirits and for the reason of not having cursed energy, his clan, the Zenin Clan hated him, but since his son was born with cursed energy and the Clan's cursed technique he figured that he'd be treated way better in the Zenin Clan.
