really enjoyed this. After seeing the movie, I hero worshiped Bonnie & Clyde as a kid. My dad had an old 1930's era pick-up truck sitting in his driveway for years. It didnt run. It was one of his 'project idea's' that never got finished. Needless to say i spent countless hours in it running from the cops, doing bank robberies and having shoot-outs playing "Bonnie & Clyde" When my dad finally sold that pickup, it broke my heart.

Clyde would have been better off without bonnie,same with bonnie,but at the same time they made a good couple,clyde told me he wanted to be a veteran but then they turned him down,but once he got around bonnie he changed like a snap of a finger,i wasn't around em,I got word when they died,I was only 47 when I heard,I was heart broke but at the same time I was relived,and no that is what broke my heart,rest in piece clyde James barrow,and to u to bonnie Clara parker

Pretty good documentary but, almost every time the mention Clyde Barrow, they show a photo of W.D. Jones.

Raymond Hamilton and Ralph Fults kidnapped my great uncle John Curtis Loftice in early 1934. J.C. was sixteen and had a fast, Ford flathead V8. After two days, he and another boy were released in Ft.Worth. Hamilton gave him a magazine and one 30-06 round from a BAR, and told him, let this will be a reminder to you, not to follow a life of crime.

No matter what we think of people like Bonnie and Clyde , or Dillinger , for that matter . These were colorful characters who lived a life outside the norm . and therein lies our fascination .

I actually met Clyde's baby sister Marie in the early 1990s when I worked at the Dallas Public Library. The Texas Dallas History Department had wrongly identified another picture of W.D. Jones as being Clyde. Marie was not pleased, but she calmed down after we started talking and she found out that I too grew up in West Dallas (many decades later). Once she chilled out we hunted down my co-worker who made the photo ID error and turned our wrath on him. Marie and I then spent time swapping stories about growing up with our gangster friends and kinfolks. The discussion was therapeutic for both of us. 😎💯

Bonnie and Clyde were planning on moving to Ireland, and raising a family. They were going to name their first son Wheel. Everyone in Ireland has a Wheel Barrow.

I've studied the pair myself for over 20 years, and I've come to despise John Neil Phillips as a B&C historian. He befriended the families and former gang members and took their words as gospel about everything. He's not objective at all, and he seems simple-minded.

I've studied Bonnie and Clyde my entire life and my grandfather knew Raymond Hamilton. I think John Neal Phillips has a lot of erroneous information.

In defense of the Texas policemen or whatever they were, Clyde was not going to get arrested. He was going to die or escape. They took that into account it seems when they set up that ambush. But it's also true that policemen were able to get away with much more back then. That's true as well.

I hate to be the buzz kill in the comment section but Bonnie and Clyde were murderers and thieves. Bonnie even said that she knew with the way they lived their lives they would die at the barrel of a gun and that's exactly what happened. People see old videos of them on You Tube or some mini series on TV and suddenly they act like they knew them. I wish they would do a 2 part mini series on the victims and not their murderers. I get it's not as glamorous. but at least it wouldn't be making a couple of thugs look like these sweet innocents. People need to remember these two left a trail of dead bodies before they were taken down. Yes I know the banks were and are crooked but murdering 14 people won't change that will it?? They didn't rob banks without hurting a soul and then give the money to charities. They didn't hand it out to poor families. They kept it. Quit making them something they weren't.
@Ifoughtpiranhas8 жыл бұрын
+Jackie Vester You do make a valid point, however I don't think people are "romanticizing" them as much as you've led yourself to believe, but are simply interested in the story and the era itself. Yes, Bonnie & Clyde were robbers and killers, however according to the people who knew them, local law enforcement agents like Ted Hinton, and surviving gang members, they weren't psychopaths who enjoyed wantonly killing people. Clyde was a bit trigger happy, but he'd much preferred to kidnap cops or citizens and drop them off somewhere over killing them. Clyde did express some remorse in confessions to his family. Bonnie in fact never killed anyone, and is only known to have possibly shot a gun on one occasion. To take interest in the history, what their motivations were, the economical factors that drove them, et cetera...doesn't lead people to believe "they knew them" or romanticize them.

*Bonnie in fact never killed anyone, and is only known to have possibly shot a gun on one occasion.* That is to say that none of the 12 murders attributed to the Barrow Gang can be linked to her, but she was indirectly responsible. After all, she often loaded the bullets that wounded/killed others. And she shot at cops on occasion (e.g. Joplin, failed Sowers ambush). That's a recent myth about Bonnie, btw, that she never fired a weapon, usually perpetrated by romantics. They like to paint their escapades as a joyriding romance and Bonnie as merely a ride-along girlfriend. That's romanticizing them, and it's very common despite your claims. The truth is, after Eastham, Clyde was a very broken and vengeful person. As soon as he was paroled, his main goal was to return to Eastham and raid the place. That's what sparked the crime spree, to fund the expedition. Bonnie sort of fell into Clyde's life of crime, but not accidentally. She was his willing accomplice and enabler. By the end, she had adopted his nihilistic views and both were on a suicide mission of sorts. They had contempt for the law (understandably) and made it known that they would rather go down fighting than return to prison. Thus, they garnered a fearless reputation, because they wouldn't hesitate to shoot when cornered.
