Seelow Hights one of those famous "nobody could survive that" moments, when russians obliterated german positions but they still responded with fire

Yes. The Germans had quite extensive system of defense, the soviet had not much space to maneuver and a couple of usable roads. Tschuikow was a capable General who at the end succeeded.

The map here is a bit to simple. There are other maps about seelow hights, that at least try.

Just loaded up the scenario to look at the Ger defence and as well to see if it doesn't break my iMac lol! It loaded just fine... Love the map size and the Ger have a decent amount of armour available. I noticed the IS-2's perform very well at range and have a decent amount of frontal armour however what I find disappointing is their low ammo counts. Be nice to introduce proper ammo re supply units in this title and would be quite interesting to have them as an option. Looking forward to part II !!! Best

What's your favorite faction to play as in CM?

Well, hard to say, but in Cold War definitely the Soviets, Black Sea the RAF and in Red Thunder I could not say, the axis have just the more interesting different tanks and all the halftracks, the Red Army is always the same force, the same T-34s with a rifle battalion, or something like that. Ergo I would say of all combat mission games I play it comes down to the Germans.

No, it is a scenario with a selected force by the designer, with some degree of historical touch.

The Seelow Heights is pretty much a ridge overlooking the flood plain of the River Oder, as opposed to a range of high hills. If you fire up this battle in Combat Misson and set the camera down to level 1 you'll see that the designer has done a really job of depicting the area. Most of the map follows a very gentle slope westwards, it only kicks up when you get close to the last objective.

There are two other seelow scenarios as part of two campaigns. A very decent simple map named the corridor and a very overpacked as part of the iron cross campaign.
