Inspecting a "Field Grade" M1 Garand from Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP). I received a good condition Springfield manufacture M1 Rifle with an original stock, with a serial number in the 1950s range.
Pros
-Excellent Bore
-Good overall Quality
-Original Stock
-Complete with functional & good condition parts
Cons
-Cant think of any considering the price and that it exceeded the grading standard

I dont want to be a debbie downer, but it seems were coming to the last gasp of the CMP rifle sales. The options keep dwindling for garands and they just said they're releasing the last of the bolt actions they'll ever have. To anyone reading this, if you can please order something from the CMP while you have the chance. These are the modern "good old days" of being able to buy a WW2 rifle and have it shipped to your front door. If you don't you will regret it. Been a CMP customer for a while now, and they've always done me right. Anyway, doom scrolly rant over, good video! Good to see what the rifles are looking like coming out now. Keep up the good work!

Yeah, I bought my M-1 last week. I wasn’t even looking to buy anything, but my local gun shop had a gorgeous looking Garand for sale at $1,700. I bought it without thinking. Back home, checking its serial and lot numbers, it’s a Garand made between July-November 1944. Barrel of was replaced somewhere late 1953 or early 1954 cause it says, 11 53 on it. New matching wood furniture and everything in good rebuilt or refresh order. Can’t wait to try it out.

I didn’t get mine in a nice case. Back when I got one, it was all dealer’s choice, $300 delivered by USPS. Came in a plastic bag, chock full of cosmoline, encased in a cardboard box that was the worse for wear. Degreased and lubed the metal after taking off the wood and hitting it with Easy-Off oven cleaner. But I got lucky, an Oct. ‘44 all SA gun, bore looked brand new and is a tack driver on the range.

I got my m-1 from dcm back in 1987 it’s a 1957 , they called them unissued , looks new and is a great shooter , i think the price was $625.00 shipped .that was a little pricey back then for a m-1 , imported marked ones at gun shows were around $150.00 to $250.00 , i also bought 2 sealed cans of lake city surplus on garand clips , i don’t remember the price of the ammo but it wasn’t too bad,

I'll bet the stock is a boyds stock, look for the rear cut under the reciever to be rounded rather than square. Still a nice shooting stock however

@@tfusilier44 Neat. I also got my RTI Berdan II. It is 1884 Sestroretsk production. It is missing a rear sight though and from what they told me, all of their Berdans are missing a rear sight. I put in a hand-select fee on it which unfortunately led to that but I got my $100 refund. I bought it because the Easter sale had things on 30% off if you spend over 1k. It has the original cleaning rod and the bore has plenty of rifling life left.

I wish they had an option to exclude a case if you don't want it so you can let others have the cases if they want them. I wouldn't need any more cases personally and would prefer others get them.

Almost every M1 out there, especially these days, has been rebuilt 1 or more times and has an assortment of non original parts. But I'm sure you masturbate to the over priced M1s on gun broker you cant afford, most of which came from the same place this one did.
