On this episode of On The Red Dot, the Lim family is looking for a large enough home for their five children, one aunt, one helper and two dogs. All this as their eldest daughter Crystal’s ‘sweet sixteen’ approaches. For the nine-strong Heng family, a fight erupts among the younger siblings and at the Zainal household, two daughters struggle to fit in with their new family.
About the show: What are the issues that provoke, inspire and unite those who live in Singapore? Uncover the personal stories of amazing individuals who call this "red dot" home.

yeah but still there will be some negatif effect from that. the big sister tends to hide her feelings and keep all the problem to herself coz she is being forced by condition to surpress her feelings. but on positif side, she is mature before her age.

I couldn't agree more with some pros and cons you guys have outlined for an elder (likely eldest) child going through maturity. On one hand it's good to be obedient and responsible (respectful as well), but on the other hand being quiet and reserved may harbour regrets of missing out childhood/simply being a child later in adult life. Nothing can ever be prepared for what is to come to life… is the price I paid for being too sensitive and solemn of being an adult in the 12-yr-old me.

Having so many children is not wrong, but its wrong when they cant provide quality life to them. The parents should know this,as simple as provide study room, but instead they make it as store.its 1 of the mistake, also making their eldest as co parenting. They need to change the mindset.

While children should contribute to the family and do chores I think it is wrong to put a big burden on the older children by having a large family if you do not have adequate resources. The older kids did not choose this so should not be burdened with a lot of responsibility for looking after their younger siblings. They deserve to have some freedom to enjoy their childhood and focus on their studies without constant anxiety and stress. You can see how the pressure is negatively impacting Izzah and Izzati who are lovely bright girls.

@@shermaynelim9665 depend what kind of hang out?maybe her mother had a curfew for them i guess? Library is a good option, but teenagers they won't uses Library anymore. They will know gather at starbuck & coffee beans to study, but most 20% studying 80% talking about other things. To me,their children need to learn to be patience. You can't simply blame everything on your parents.Just because your dad promises to move does not mean he doesn't care about you guys. He already taken note of his children request & he know it,but his children need to understand the job that their father has. Be grateful that she can own an Iphone(most probably all uses data, cheapest plan probably $30,wearing a braces, yet not grateful. They are so lazy, not wanting to help their mom pack the stuff(except the eldest daughter) & their parents not handling the youngest child attitude. Boy,if you can't study is ok,but try to improve & stop playing games. Their children had so many request yet they can't even take note of their parents request. Your parents just ask you to just pass your exam.they don't expect you to score 80 or A.They are not even scolding you.Prove to others that you can pass, but he look like he doesn't care about it.It time for his parents to confiscate his phone. As for the 2nd daughter,i don't what to say about her.she need to improves on her attitude. Yes your father may not be a sociable person, but he cares for you guys.he send you guys to school for Free, not even a single thank you to your own dad? Why?because he broke the promises. He mentions that he is getting job overseas which is giving him good pay unless the jobs in SG give him a good pay. This children have they ever think about 'who paid the utilities, electric, water, phone bills, school education, groceries, basic necessities) lmao this kids..they need a spank. They are too spoiled.
