Mdm Carolyn Quek quit her job to pursue her dream of raising a family, but she could not know that all three of her sons would be born with severe challenges - two of them with a rare immunodeficiency disorder that weakens their ability to fight infection. Will she ever overcome her fear, helplessness and guilt? In this episode of On the Red Dot, we look at how love never fails - even in the bleakest of circumstances.
About the show: What are the issues that provoke, inspire and unite those who live in Singapore? Uncover the personal stories of amazing individuals who call this "red dot" home.

For those who have medical conditions or are struggling in life right now, I hope your life becomes better and cheer up! Remember this “our life is like a piano, the white keys are happiness, the black keys are sadness, and we learn overtime that we need both keys to play music”

My heart breaks for this poor woman and her beautiful boys. She is doing her very best to give her boys a good life with little support it seems. Raising children is exhausting at the best of times so the extra needs must be overwhelming at times. You can see she loves her boys a lot. Her commitment to her children is obvious and you can’t fault her for losing her temper at times - she is human and having to deal with these challenges 24/7. She is very brave to share her struggles and the reality of what her life is like. If you have never experienced it then you can’t appreciate how hard it can be physically and emotionally. I’m glad she got some extra help - it’s important to acknowledge if you are struggling to cope and to not be afraid to reach out for help.

I think she is a brave woman to be so honest about how difficult things are for her. As mom's we try so hard to pretend everything is fine, we can handle everything, everything is FINE 🤣 and it's not. It's hard with kids who don't have special needs, having kids with multiple needs is exhausting and so much work, they really do need support.

Mom, you are doing too much for these kids. I understand you feel profoundly guilty for the bad genetic and all the health issues. Yes, it’s a day to day combat. But you kids are enough old to understand and have responsibilities. You are doing EVERYTHING...brushing their teeth and puting their cloth on at their age? My son is on the spectrum of autistic as well, and i try to push him do his duties everyday. They need more practice than every other kids to be autonomous. Don’t gives up. When i see them playing so energetic; it’s simply beautiful.
