My strategy has always been to invest half of my income in the stock market at the beginning of each month. The second part of my strategy is not to sell for at least 5 years, but recently my portfolio has suffered major decline about $150k in losses. What can I do please?
@alexyoung312615 күн бұрын
Look for stocks that have paid steady, increasing dividends for years (or decades), and have not cut their dividends even during recessions. which may reduce your dividend gains or income, speaking to a certified market strategist can help with pointers

Agreed. It's always wise to be proactive and consider diversifying our investments to manage risks in uncertain economic times. I delegate my day-to-day investing to an advisor ever since suffering a major steep-down late 2019, amid rona-outbreak, and as of today, I'm semi-retired with barely 25% short of my $1m retirement goal after subsequent investments

Successful investing is hard work because it means disciplining your mind to do the opposite of human nature. Buying during a panic, selling during euphoria, and holding on when you are bored and just craving a little action. Investing is 5% intellect and 95% temperament.

Government policy has thrown the future under the bus for decades. The day of judgment is near. I predict an 80% drop in the stock market. Investors will abandon stocks in favor of real estate. There will be no money in banks... You must devise a strategy for survival.

I wholeheartedly concur; I'm 60 years old, just retired, and have about $1,250,000 in non-retirement assets. Compared to the whole value of my portfolio during the last three years, I have no debt and a very little amount of money in retirement accounts. To be completely honest, the information provided by invt-advisors can only be ignored but not neglected. Simply undertake research to choose a trustworthy one.

He had given one of my kids 12 shares that were from dividend reinvestment in 2020. Those 12 shares are worth over $10,000. It's great to hear that you are considering investing in the stock market after being inspired by the success of Munger and Buffett with Berkshire Hathaway. Here are some key points to consider when investing a significant amount like the proceeds from selling your apartment:

Numerous compelling stocks span various industries for you to consider tracking. While it's not necessary to act on every prediction, enlisting the guidance of a financial advisor is advisable. They can assist you in determining optimal entry and exit points for purchasing and selling shares or ETFs, ensuring well-timed decisions aligned with your investment goals.
@trevorkelly503621 күн бұрын
I agree, that's the more reason I prefer my day to day investment decisions being guided by an advisor seeing that their entire skillset is built around going long and short at the same time both employing risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying off risk as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, coupled with the exclusive information/analysis they have, it's near impossible to not out-perform, been using my advisor for over 4years+ and I've netted over 2.8million.

Really interesting picks! NVIDIA and Amazon seem like solid buys with their strong market positions and growth potential, especially in AI and e-commerce. Goldman Sachs is a bit more traditional but could be a good play if the financial sector rebounds. As for Constellation, bailing on it might make sense if its growth prospects aren't as strong or if there are better opportunities elsewhere. Always good to see a mix of tech and finance in a portfolio. What are your thoughts on the risks involved with these choices?
@AaronPoole-xo6tq20 күн бұрын
I agree, those are some intriguing choices! NVIDIA and Amazon are definitely powerhouse companies with a lot of innovation happening. Goldman Sachs feels like a safer, more traditional bet, but it still has growth potential. I'm curious about Constellation though-do you think there's a chance it might bounce back, or is it better to cut losses now? Diversifying like this seems smart, but each stock has its own set of risks. What’s your strategy for managing those risks?
