When your roughing has better finish than your finishing.

Way too slow of a feedrate and depth of final pass.

@@CampfireCrucifix feedrate is allright, more DOC.... it doesn´t have meat to cut into so it just rubs

All i want to say.. in every legit CNC channel... Hand programming on the laithe.... Its the worlds most expencive calculator... Either do CAD/CAM or program off the machine, while it works.. Just think... implement... and see more productivity!

Hand programming is fine, if you know how to do it right! I'm running a slightly older 5-axis dual spindle/turret bar feeder lathe, and it's got manual programming only. No graphics, no nothing. There you really have to time everything right to make it not crash, and to make the cycle time as short as possible while still having good tool life, when running several thousand parts that's important. And all i can say is that it's honestly fine! I've only ever really had one major crash, and that was a parting tool that got to close the collet chuck in the sub-spindle while parting off a 6mm thick part... Shot some sparks but all went well. As long as you're careful and know what you're doing it's no issue at all hand programming your lathe.

Better safe than sorry but you can still be safe when using rapid movement, use canned cycles

Yes I agree, He was trying to do a thread relief but with the wrong tool. Lucky insert didn't chip or break.

Are those threads at the end? I am thinking the timing has to be precise when you are running that tool across or it will ruin it?
