Megyn Kelly is joined by Howard Blum, author of "When the Night Comes Falling," to discuss new details about Idaho murders suspect Bryan Kohberger's conversations with his father on their cross-country road trip after the massacre, how his father may have suspected his son's involvement, new details about his behavior at Washington State University, whether Bryan Kohberger was casing the Idaho murder victims' house or having an internal conflict about it, Blum's reporting about who the target of the attack really was, the possibility Kohberger had seen the victim before, what the surviving roommate of the Idaho college murders Dylan Mortensen saw and texted with her other roommate at the time, theories on why she didn't call the police right away, Kohberger's older sister's suspicions of him, and more. Then Erick Erickson, author of "You Shall Be as Gods," joins to discuss how Biden and Trump are preparing for the important first debate on Thursday, whether Trump will be able to keep his composure, Trump's success in previous debate, the importance of creating a moment the audience will remember, CNN host Kasie Hunt cutting the mic of a Trump spokesperson who mildly criticized her colleagues, why debate moderators are subject to criticism, the left's instincts to silence those they disagree with, the lack of spirituality and faith in America and around the world, turning to government over religion, how to reverse the negative trends, and more.

There is never "closure" when the person you love more than words is taken this way. It affects the way we grieve. People say stupid, thoughtless things like "and her murderer". I don't think this author should have come out with this book full of conjecture, creating a story that does not contain all the details and facts (how could he?) before the trial? Isn't this poisoning the jury? Afterall, our justice system is innocent until proven guilty? Let the prosecutors prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt first, then write a book and get a big payday. I won't buy this book. Not that I'm on that young man's side by any means, just find it odd to write a book based on conjecture to grift for $$$

I’m not sure how you would think such a book detailing the known facts and making some conjectures that anyone could make would poison the jury. This information isn’t a secret, any person who is interested could access nearly all of it barring perhaps some results of interviews with his own sources but irrespective of that if there is interest or curiosity none of it is secret and if a person is going to conjecture or make guesses they’re going to do that. It’s interesting to see the facts laid out, it will be interesting to see how that stacks up against what will be said at trial and how the defense or the prosecution will deal with some of the questions which those facts raise but he hasn’t disclosed anything much that isn’t public knowledge already.

Trump will be hurt by the muted mics, as well. You're not thinking about who is running the show, CNN. If/when Trump decides to interrupt, CNN will have his mic muted, but show him on split screen, Biden on the left talking, and Trump on the right, talking but not being heard. Every time Trump is essentially pantomiming, a new meme will be born. He's need to keep himself grounded.

I grieve for the parents, family, and close friends. I also grieve for the suspects father, and family, one thing is clear. The father loved his son. This is a Shakespearean tragedy of epic proportions. So many families are now destroyed to a degree I can’t imagine. Ironically a close friend of mine - that went to Syracuse University at same time as my sister - was a PhD teaching at the university in Moscow, Idaho. I'm English and remember watching American news in the early 90s. At that time I remember finding it amusing that religion was front and centre in nearly everything. I've since regained my faith and when I reconnected with American media, not just the news in the last 8 years or so I was shocked that the US seems to have totally lost its spiritual underpinning. I can't help but feel your country's slide where by nearly every metric you are failing is linked to the loss of faith. I sense in the UK and US people are reconnecting to what's important in life and that will save us.

36:28 Where are the defensive wounds on Bryan Kohberger? Well, there was a period of about a month-and-a-half for any such wounds to heal . . . plus, it looks very likely that Kohberger wore gloves and may also have been wearing a coverall garment specifically aimed at keeping biological evidence from being exchanged between him and the victims; a return from the search warrant for his apartment showed a tag or receipt for a Dickies item, which may get further elucidation at trial.

These people raised cowards. They weren’t taught to do the right thing, no matter how difficult. They were raised to “not get involved”. Sad.

I didn’t realize that Kohberger left before he received his termation letter from university. I was also not aware that in addition to his sister suspicious of Brian committing the murders, his father was too. Last year I read that Brian had tried to contact Mattee on Social Media, but she did not respond. He could have also went to the vegan restaurant she had worked, but I don’t know that he did or not. Apparently, Brian went to the house to murder Mattee and ended up killing 4 innocent people. When Brian was arrested, he asked the Police if anyone else was arrested, that could mean he was throwing the police a curve ball or he had an accomplice. One issue in this case was that when Brian had a hearing after his arrest, when he walked into the court room, his mother burst into tears when she saw her son in prison clothes. 😮‍💨

And yet BK showed no emotion at his mother being so grieved. That's crazy. BK does seem off, guilt or no guilt, remain to be seen I guess.

When my daughters went to college, I guess they were sheltered. They thought the best of everyone. I would caution about safety measures and they were credulous. Thought I was paranoid and being a “mother”. The girls probably felt everyone was like them. Call the police on someone in their house, a friend.

35:11 I think we should probably rely less on the coroner’s descriptions or characterizations than we do the medical examiner’s careful documentation of the exact nature of the wounds inflicted on the victims-which we have not yet seen, and probably won’t see until trial. I don’t think your interpretation, Megyn, that the assailant slit Xana’s throat because her wounds were characterized as being “caused by an edged weapon” is necessarily one that is justified by the language of the coroner’s report. It is reading between the lines, probably, but I would more readily conclude this describes the *serration* of the blade of the murder weapon being evident on the wound, whatever or wherever it was. I’m not sure where Blum is getting the information that the blade pierced Xana’s hand held up in defense, but there was information from the coroner that some of the victims showed defensive wounds. We would expect Xana and Kaylee to evidence them, but I think there may be questions about how Maddie and Ethan may not have been able to defend themselves in the same way. The coroner does say that some of the victims were killed in their sleep; and I think the whole logistical picture of the commission of the crimes would support Maddie being attacked without her being awake at the time. With Ethan, there appears to be more to learn, because it appears that he may have bled out on the bed, and that it may have been his blood that pooled and dripped onto the exterior cement wall.
