The thing is, people who kidnap kids and elderly ARE human- whether they do it under the auspices of “administrative detention” without charge at the behest of the IDF, or they’re part of Hamas. I don’t expect this person to give one shit about that because they’ve very recently been through a very traumatic and shocking event. But for everyone else reading and watching, I highly encourage everyone to look up the IDF’s history of random detentions of Palestinians and wildly disproportionate punishments and prison terms for minor infractions, as well as the tactical and political history here. Also want to add a note that the bombings don’t get the hostages released- this lady was released after a ceasefire was agreed upon, and since the IDF has made the decision to bomb every school, hospital and refugee camp (which could all very well be housing hostages) to smithereens, there have been very few hostages released. The IDF’s assaults haven’t been about the hostages, they’ve been about ethnically cleansing Gaza so that it can be re-occupied by Israel.
