On Pham giving up his last AB, I think it's a good strategic move. Let a guy off the bench get a look at one of the Rangers bullpen arms, and also let him have a chance to get a bit more settled in. You never know when you'll need one of them to step up

Two talented, well-matched teams, good managers who adapt their strategies instead of playing long ball all day, (relatively) low-toxicity fanbases, and an umpiring crew that (so far) is doing a service to the sport. it's a good year to be a baseball fan.

Bit of a different take here, but if you look at the coach's eyes when he says that, I wouldn't doubt it if he was calling his pitcher a dumb fuck. Almost like they were just talking about how he wasn't changing his rhythm so when he does and gets Pham at 2nd it's one of those backhanded sorta things. Closer to an "It's about time you dumb fuck."

Tommy Pham is a very interesting player to me (Padres fan). He seems to be ridiculed by the public and people online but beloved by teammates. He has interesting past that can be perceived in a negative light fairly easily but he has had an extremely tough life full of things that would put a lot of people down or into a negative headspace. I dont condone all his actions but considering the path hes had; degenerative eye disease that he has to get handled very often, the injury recovery from what was actually an insane gash, media backlash and supposed abuse from fans. The fact that most teammates have nothing but praise, hes mashing in the WS and still giving a guy his AB up? Respect, not only do you give him a garunteed WS AB but if you ever do need him maybe some of the nervousness and jitters are removed. If not for the whole Pham and Kim collision and social media always joking about him being stabbed; I think most Padres fans would actually like him.

@@BasesLoadedLacquer there was a collision between him and kim once, and that situation was handled very poorly-it seemed on TV like he was blaming and upset with Kim. I'm not sure what happened exactly, but I know Pham cares for his teammates, obviously shown through his slap defending the padres
@j_Brew
@j_Brew 9 ай бұрын
@@BasesLoadedLacquer he was getting shit on before the slapping. Part of the reason I said I don't condone all his actions. Him being stabbed twice is a pretty common thing people joke about but people leave out the context, they just reference it being outside a strip club and clown. If you look at the actual wound idk if I'd call it a stabbing, it's more of full slash to the back. Even more reason to think he was probably fairly innocent in the case. Massive slash to the back is a few steps above cheap shot. The fact that so many players have good things to say about him just makes the difference in public opinion has me more sympathetic to him over time. I was love hate with him as a Padre.
@j_Brew
@j_Brew 9 ай бұрын
@@thisguyknowsball it seemed like when they got to the dugout after he blew up on Kim and had to be restrained and moved to the clubhouse by a coach. Kim is beloved in SD and Pham had a lot of hot head stigma and bad press so naturally fans turned on Pham more to defend our sweet prince HSK.

When Montgomery looked at him the 1st time, the SS began to "sneak" toward 2nd before he turned to the plate. Then Pham took a larger lead thinking he was going to pitch the batter, but he didn't. Watch it again in slow motion - Monty turned his head before before Heim started to point. This was a planned change of pace in his delivery hoping to get an aggressive base runner to take too large of a lead. Very likely talked about in the dugout and Maddux is actually directing his comments at Monty because up until that point his delivery rhythm was too predictable and the D-Backs were feasting off of it.

Paul Monitor had 5 hits in Game 1 of the 1982 World Series. I remember because I kept score at home, the only scoring done by 12-year-old me.

Just from the at-bats in this video it looks like the D-backs being so good at stealing is causing the pitching to be a little erratic by changing up the pitcher routine.

I wish baseball was broadcasted with more variation to wider shots. Everything is so zoomed in, you are missing a lot like that.

Seager sneaking behind was the key. 3rd base coach should have been doing his job.

That Rangers coach was on the 2015/16 team also wasn't he? That team has totally transformed some of the trash they had on it, Bannister was like that too. Maybe I'm wrong but he looks familiar from that 2015 team that Jays had such a feud with.

I am old enough to remember that "Atta Boy" is perhaps the worst thing you can say about a player. You don't even have to say it in his presence.

No coach should ever talk that way to any player. That’s provoking a player for no reason. I’ve actually seen another video on your channel where similar situation, a coach yelled at an opposing player and the player responded and things escalated into a brawl. I believe that coach got fired. As a coach you have to control yourself, you set an example for your own players
