Damn, I had a dual Battery Tender in the garage that I’ve been meaning to get hooked up to my old Road King and new Spyder for some time now. Talk about timing being everything, after seeing this video this morning, I got both bikes installed and connected. Great motivation at the exact proper time. Well done indeed! Keep the great videos and thoughts coming. We look forward to each installment! PS: Although its cooler at this time of the year in Southern California, it’s still shorts weather! 😉😂

Awesome video, thanks for the detailed instructions, I was able to complete the installation in 15mins and charge my battery with in 2 hours. Bike I running perfect again. Will keep the tender connected for now on when not riding the bike!

Hey Coach Bob, thanks for the tip on which battery tender to purchase. I bought one this past weekend and installed it today! I did crosscut in the plug to feed the wiring tail through and it worked out great! Once again, Thank You!

Yep, they are good, I've used a battery tender on many bikes. 4 Yamahas, 1 Suzuki, 3 Harley's, 1 Kawasaki and the best yet, my Can-Am Spyder F3-T Limited. Good thing is that the Battery tender knows if it's connected correctly.

my battery tender helped my original motorcycle battery last for 6yrs before I had to get a new one. now I have a can-am Ryker rally 3 days old in my life and it's getting a battery tender tomorrow oh yeahhh Sept18,2021

Dear coach Bob; I don’t know much about motorcycles but looking forward to get a can am. Besides the battery conditioner, how does the battery stay charged when you go on several day touring ride?

Didn’t keep my 2016 RTL on a tender the first year I owned it, and regretted it. The battery died on me in the middle of the second season, while on a ride. I now us a battery tender, and the second battery has been going strong for 3 1/2 years. I keep it plugged in whenever I’m not riding.

Dash/panel mounted outlet makes it even easier to connect your Tender. Then you won't have to open any panels.

Always use a wrench. A screwdriver will not get the stud tight enough. You would be surprised electrical issues are caused with loose terminals.

Hey Coach Bob, I bought a Everstart Maxx 4 Amp Waterproof 12v Automotive and Marine Battery Charger for my 2014 Can Am Spyder RTS. I am all new to this. This is my first Can Am. Hope I got the correct charger/maintainer. Thanks Carol

Thanks for that tidbit, good info. Appreciate your shared knowledge, especially for those learning. I'm new to cycling, just finished my class and looking to purchase a Spyder in the spring. This was pretty informative, but more importantly an eye opener - never considered this and I'm in MD where winters can sometimes get and stay cold. Had a question - once the pigtail is connected, does it stay on (more or less) permanently to the battery? Obviously unplug the pigtail from the power source as you mentioned, but I wanted to see if that's how this is installed. Please forgive me if you mentioned in the video and I missed it. Thanks much for sharing!

Thanks for the kind words. Yes sir...The pigtail stays connected to the battery. Also..If you run extensions off of it you can power heated rider clothing & accessories as well. 👍👍

Coach did you put your pig tail leads on the bottom or on to of the battery terminals? The reason I ask is because it matters. You are correct that is a simple install.

On top.I just pulled the screw and placed the ring on top of the “motorcycle” cables. 👍👍👍

My wife battery just died (7 yrs old). My battery is an AGM, is that Battery Tender good with AGM. Just a note, Deland Can Am rally would be great if they had a tour of Battery Tender factor in Deland Fl.

I am actually surprised you do not already have a sae pigtail make sure to mount the leads on top of the power leads from the bike, not under them. It really does matter. There have been issues with incorrectly stacked electricals

I put them on top. I was not aware of problems otherwise. Thank you for sharing this. Hopefully it will help others not make that mistake. 👍👍👍 I never pulled the motorcycle leads off just lifted out the screw and put the pigtail on.

Can you replace the battery from that same area as well ? Does it pull out or do you have to do a ton of pulling pieces off

It is easy.. pulls right out through that area.. and reinstalls...no hassle!!

In my 2020 RT it has a plug to connect a tender up to. My question is this if your using it weekly is it needed?

If I’m not riding the Spyder. It is on the tender. It will prolong your battery life exceptionally well. I keep all of the motorcycles I own on a tender all of the time.

I have 3 tenders and they work on all of my motorcycles...and my lawn mower. One of mine is not a plus and it works great.

It is not a requirement… but, I have 5 running in my garage. For the price and the life it adds to your battery. It’s a great investment. My batteries last a long time when properly “tended”. Thanks for the question. 👍👍👍

my neighbor asked me to let him keep his Spyder in my garage, and I had no problem sharing some space... the next day I saw his Spyder connected to the wall... im guessing its this thing.... quick question: how much power do these things use? he didn't ask permission for that, but before I talk to him I wanted to know how much electricity is this thing using? is this gonna have an impact on my bill? its pugged in 24/7.... thanks!

It is very minimal. Most of the time it is “monitoring” the battery. When the power dips down in maintains the proper battery level. In power … a nickel a month maybe. 👍👍👍unnoticeable. 👍👍👍
