I'm doing some coastal long exposure photography and some fine art black and white landscape photography on the north Kent coast at Reculver. It's the middle of the day so I'm using my 10 stop ND filter to shoot some simple black and white long exposures to make the most of the features I can find on the beach leading up to Reculver Towers.

Gotta be really tough for long exposures in such weather conditions. The wind was having undesirable effects on the rig. The lens shake was clearly visible.

It actually wasn’t that bad - certainly not as bad as it looked on camera. It was actually the video camera on its add-on arm that was moving about and I didn’t want that to have an effect on the tripod - the Canon stills camera was rock solid. Well spotted though! 👍🏻

I suspected as much--that the filming camera might be getting tossed around in the wind. I myself also like the dramatic visual aspects of a darkening sky. Your effort is appreciated.

I thought the bulb timer on canon let you time a 60 sec ( or other) bulb shot!

What method did you use to determine focus? Absolutely love the black and white!

Thanks Robert. To be honest I usually just focus on something ⅓ into the frame and use focus peaking to check it’s all in focus. If not, I’ll just adjust the focus point back or forth to get it just right. I used to use hyperfocal but the focus peaking on my EOS R works a treat!
