On today's Closed But Not Forgotten episode, I'll be jumping back in time to look through the history of Thorpe Park's spooktacular classic dark ride Phantom Fantasia, later known as Wicked Witches Haunt. I'll be sharing the entirety of the ride's history and also share my thoughts on this haunted looking, ghoulish attraction.

@@CoasterChallYT I didn’t get to experience Wicked Witches Haunt iver. I was only 8 Months old when the ride caught fire. Aaron the fire was completely avoidable. The fire started when a guy tossed his cigarette into the undergrowth on Mr Rabbits Tropical Travels. Unfortunately the blaze spread and destroyed Wicked Witches Haunt. Fortunately smoking on rides has now been banned. This sort of event couldn’t occur in this day and age. Technically remnants of Mr Rabbits Tropical Travels still remain. The queline for Nemesis Inferno is the Mr Rabbits Tropical Travels que. The fire of July 2000 is the reason why Thorpe turned into Thrill Park. This was because Wicked Witches Haunt was replaced by Detonator. The popularity of this ride coupled with the fact Chessington cannot built rides over a certain hight instigated the change. An interesting piece of information is that Thorpe nearly didn’t have Colossus. Colossus was designed /built for Chessington,the then Thrill Park. During the manufacturing of Colossus the fire broke out at Thorpe.As Tussaud’s decided to swap the Parks target audience the unbuilt ride was moved to Thorpe. If it wasn’t for the fire of July 2000 both Thorpe and Chessington wouldn’t be as they are today. Had Colossus been built at Chessington we wouldn’t have had Beanoland. This was The planned location for Colossus. I’m thankful that Colossus was moved to Thorpe. Wild Asia that replaced Beanoland in 2010 is one of my favourite areas of Chessington.
