Definitely! I was astonished by his acting in Kobra Kai. He IS the show IMO. Not to take away from anyone else but Johnny is who I care about the most in the show. Johnny deserves an incredible ending, (to the show) so that we the viewers can have a sense of "knowing" that he'll be successful after the final credits roll.

After his great performance in How i met your Father i wish a show like Cobra Kai for him! For me is the best in Cobra Kai he is an intressting character he is not perfect but he try to give his best. And he is very cool in that Show!

I happened to meet him when I worked the door at a comedy club in LA in the early 2000s and I can tell you that he's SUPER cool and down-to-earth in real life. Everyone was excited that he came to the show, and he stopped and talked to every single comic and audience member who approached him. As an OG Karate Kid fan who saw the original in the theater as a kid, I couldn't be happier that the show is a hit and that his performance is getting him the recognition he deserves.

Not everyone, more likely the adults... I was a kid and could pick out the fonzz from a lineup, and probably could sing most of the show's theme song, but I didn't recognize pat/mr miyagi from anything prior to the first karate kid film. But you're correct about the phenomenal performance. When I was an older teen/early 20s and saw interviews, it was shocking.

Did you take his response as a negative response? For some reason I did, as if he's "over it" by now and is looking for the end. I could be way off.

Don't forget it's Netflix, they are notorious for cancelling shows prematurely. Hope not with this one though.

@@bantheshift Yes, it may seem that way since actors tend to like playing diverse characters and be in new projects. And there could be other reasons like being too old to have fight scenes, especially for Ralph who is not into martial arts unlike William. And that is why Harrison Ford never liked playing Han Solo (but not Indy) because he was so over his character and wanted out. I think if the producers want to continue with the series and some of the original actors want out, they need to start making a script for it so that those actors can exit gracefully and their characters may even die or paralyzed so that they can't teach martial arts anymore.

I don't think Mr. Han ever knew Daniel or Mr. Miyagi. Like Macchio said, there is no canon nor connection between the characters from the original Karate Kid movies and the reboot.

He wouldn’t have done 4 of them if he didn’t love it. At the bare minimum he loved the money, which this shows makes quite a bit off

I think Johnny being stuck in the past is also incredibly sad and rewarding to see him try to pull himself out of his past. I think we all know deep down he's a good guy with bad teachers and watching him overcome that has me rooting for him all the time.

The homage this show is giving to the original movies is really well done. I love the karate kid when I was little. I never realized there was a third. I loved the Chan and smith remake, but they don’t belong anywhere near cobra kai. They would dilute what this show is doing.

Seriously, I finished each season in one day lol.

This is one of the few shows that feels very consistent. Not once have I ever felt I was watching a completely different show whether it be tone inconsistence, character motivation exc. It always remains focused and the writing is just so well done. Easily one of the best shows to stream rn and has quickly become one of my favorite shows I have ever seen. This season in particular might even be the best one yet

@@shadowofchaos41 I think one of the main reasons for me is that the formula is fairly simple, you have Daniel and Johnny who are obviously the two main actors, and they have a really good "odd couple" vibe going on. Especially in this latest season where they both hang out and sort of try to teach the other their philosophy lol. It's really the anchor for the show and it's working brilliantly.

It would be cool if she came back evil, because if you remember, she thought Miyagi should have kicked more ass and finished them, so it'd be neat to see some like her, trained by Miyagi, take a path of "if he just destroyed everyone he faced, there wouldn't have been a new Cobra Kai, and therefore it's his fault, his mercy made things worse and I'm ending all of it".

The thing my wife and I liked the best was the visible, physical, transformation he did, just by pulling back his hair into a ponytail. We thought that he legit looked like a different person than before he did it. He totally transformed from the new Terry into the old one.

I think that one way it could be done would be for Jackie to show a fight choreography of his making to the Karate experts advising or the movie in the Kung Fu style, and they could translate the moves in the Karate equivalents of the Kung Fu moves teaching the result to the series cast. People who do dance do something similar, for example, there are adaptations of Salsa Rueda for Lindy Hop or West Coast Swing Dancers. The result would be something of a Karate fight that would be an homage to Mr Han who was the remake's Mr Myagi without having him on screen in the series since he's from outside the Myagiverse.

I don't know aboout that. They can't really go too much outside tournaments and rivalries, unless they start jumping the shark and doing international tournaments and crime syndicates and stuff like that. Season 4 felt like a really rehashed show, like I don't what they could bring in season 5.

We already saw an enemy team up (daniel-johnny), we already saw the weak pathetic kid joining karate and becoming a badass, we already saw the bullied kid becoming a morally corrupt. I don't know what else they could do unless they really jump the shark and start doing international stuff. Same happened with the movies, they became more and more outlandish as they went on. I really liked Cobra Kai, is a nostalgia trip, but the nostalgia well has dried up already and it shows in a lot of plot points in season 4.

They could be easily integrated without having to have met Mr. Miyagi though. Remember that Miyagi-do was founded in China first. Jackie and Jaden's characters could wind up watching the tournament or help Danny and Johnny in a fight, leading to Daniel learning more about the origins of Miyagi-do.

To be fair that’s how people will always feel by default when it comes to originals and remakes. While I prefer the original myself, I would t go as far as to say that it is so much better than the more modern one. If the one with Jaden were to have been made back then instead, the roles would be reversed. It was the same story being told but in a different continent with a different cast. It’s that memory lane bias.
