I think that maybe they removed it because he makes a VERY good point and it might paint kreese in a sympathetic light, while they want him to still be credible as a villain. With the tory subplot going on, we already know he's not 100% dark, maybe adding too many scenes like this would weaken the character, make it less credible as the scary sensei

@@profchaos91 I agree with everything you put here but I feel it wouldn't weaken the character or show to show Cobra Kai sensei's showing some occasional bits of effective insight. Like if they left this in, it would lend credence to Kreese and Silver having this distorted sense of wisdom and not being 2-dimensional villain types. Based on that, it would show how Kreese / Silver mentally / philosophically justify their approach to karate training.

@@arcane8110 i feel what you are saying might be true, but this particular point feels a bit too close to the Myagi-do's philosophy. He should've said something on the lines that his father lost because he refused to show no mercy on an injured opponent and started feeling guilty over attacking daniel's weakness, which is technically a bit true. Kreese had no qualms on talking about focus and balance and stuff like that, johnny was never thaught anything like that in cobra kai

Doesn’t matter he still has years of experience and training while Daniel literally just learned the style within weeks. Yeah he was sad because of the breakup ? So ? Johnny was actually confused if you think back. Remember "sweep the leg"? Johnny didn't want to but Kreese pressured him. The "real" genius of this writing is that it shows even more so how much of a snake Kreese really is, blaming Johnny's emotions when he was the one "manipulating" Johnny's emotions.

@@hugejackedman3447 It still works because the entire goal was to win the tournament and Johnny lost focus of that over Ali. Johnny would have beat Daniel had he just did what Kreese told him to do and not rush straight into a telegraphed kick. Daniel was in possibly the worst position you can think of when doing that kick, he wasn't even doing it offensively which if done right actually makes the move somewhat practical which is what Miguel did when he was mocking it. Kreese may have been trying to make him do something he didn't wanna do but the point still stands that he cared more about revenge than winning. That was the straw that broke the camel's back so to speak.

Understandable, but at the same time this scene really does add more depth to both Johnny and Kreese’s characters as we get a glimpse of not only what was driving Johnny in the past, but also how Kreese’s mindset really is just the fact that he tries to block out any emotions to try and “be strong”.

And he was right we must always protect ou heart even in real life sometimes our heart makes as hurt. But that doesn't mean we should be emotioinless. He only got anywhere in CK by lying to Johnny and taking his dojo, and in less than a year he ended up getting a taste of his own usurping medicine by not only dragging Silver into his drama, but also treating him like a lackey instead of an equal.

Betsy's death permanently scarred and psychologically messed Kreese up for life. What happened to her will always deeply hurt him no matter how much time passes. Betsy was Kreese's world, she was the only person he loved so much and deeply cared about, her warmth, gentleness and presence calmed Kreese in a way he never felt before and she also brought much joy to his life, he was madly in love with her, the letters she wrote him and just the thought of coming back to her after the war is what kept Kreese going through the unimaginable horrors in Vietnam and when he found out about her tragic death from Captain Turner the compassionate and kind hearted man who had normal feelings for others was destroyed. Losing Betsy was not only the final blow to Kreese's humanity but was also the main reason why he turned into such a cold, heartless and merciless person which he would be for the rest of his life.
