Toy Story 2 (1999)
Toy Story 2 is a 1999 American animated adventure comedy film produced by Pixar Animation Studios for Walt Disney Pictures. The second installment in the Toy Story franchise and the sequel to Toy Story (1995), it was directed by John Lasseter, co-directed by Ash Brannon and Lee Unkrich (in their feature directorial debuts), and produced by Helene Plotkin and Karen Robert Jackson, from a screenplay written by Andrew Stanton, Rita Hsiao, Doug Chamberlin, and Chris Webb, and a story conceived by Lasseter, Stanton, Brannon, and Pete Docter. In the film, Woody is stolen by a toy collector, prompting Buzz Lightyear and his friends to rescue him, but Woody is then tempted by the idea of immortality in a museum. Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Don Rickles, Jim Varney, Wallace Shawn, John Ratzenberger, Annie Potts, R. Lee Ermey, John Morris, and Laurie Metcalf reprise their roles from the first film and they are joined by Joan Cusack, Kelsey Grammer, Estelle Harris, Wayne Knight, and Jodi Benson, who play the new characters introduced in this film.

Excellent reaction. My daughter was 14 when we saw this. After hearing Jessie's sad story, I sent her to her room to hug her baby bear. That was a toy she was given when she was born. At some point, they became inseparable.

Rest in peace, Jim Varney. This was his last role before his death. Atlantis: The Lost Empire was released after that, and while that may be listed as his actual last role, this was Varney's swan song. You guys should check out some of the Ernest movies. He was best known for those, too. Edit: And rest in peace, Joe Ranft (the voice of Wheezy the Penguin), Don Rickles (the voice of Mr. Potato Head), and Estelle Harris (the voice of Mrs. Potato Head).

The cleaner (Geri) was in a Pixar short where he played chess against himself in 1997 before the movie. So they decided to bring him back for this little role. Toy Story 3 and 4 next! Three is amazing too :D

If you look closely one of the Rock-Em-Sock-Em Robots have an ear with a missing ear lobe. This is a reference to the boxing match when Mike Tyson bit off Evander Holyfield's ear lobe off him, disqualifying him.

Great reaction, Coby. You were great at recognizing the voices in this movie, too. Toy Story 2 is a masterpiece, not only a great sequel, but a great movie, period. The storytelling and the writing are exceptional and the way each character is portrayed with their specific personalities is what makes this movie outstanding. It's funny, heartwarming and a genuinely fun film. Fun fact: Toy Story 2 was originally going to be a "Direct-To-Video" release. Once they saw what the finished product looked like, they knew that it had to be a theatrical release. Thank God! Coby, you will love Toy Story 3 as well, another incredible movie.

A Barbie doll was planned to be used in Toy Sotry 1 but Matell didn't grant permisson for two reasons 1. They saw Barbie as having diferent personalitiy depending on the girl playing with her, so they didn't want Barbie to have a defined personality. 2. They didn't though the movie was going to be a success. When Toy Story turned out to be a huge success, they were more willing to let Pixar use Barie in subsequent movies. On a side note, Barbie is voiced by Jodi Benson who voiced Ariel in The Little Mermaid.

Slinky Dog is voiced by the late Jim Varney which is a name _younger_ people usually won't recognize. He's most famous for a character he played in the late '80's through the mid '90's named Ernest P. Worrell who was basically like a hick, but dumber.

It's my favorite animated film of all time, followed by HTTYD. Then it's Kung Fu Panda 2, The Iron Giant (like The Incredibles, another Brad Bird film), and Toy Story 3. Toy Story 2 is number 6, it was overtaken by Toy Story 3 only due to the nostalgia and the perfect ending as I think Toy Story 4 should've never been made.

I think I was in first grade when this came out. Some of the best animated movies came out when I was a kid and 1999 was a treasure trove for me with this and Pokémon the First Movie.

So here's some food for thought. Emily had a Jessie hat to match her Jessie doll. Andy has a Woody doll, but his hat is a Jessie hat. And old worn one missing the headband that was most likely a hand-me-down from his mom. We also know Woody is a hand-me-down too since Andy's Mom tells Al he's "An old family toy". So he was a hand-me-down too. Probably from dad which would mean his parents were both "Woody's Roundup" fans. Also, if you go back and check the box Jessie was "donated" in, you'll see Emily didn't donate the hat. Why donate everything but the Hat? Unless... it wasn't hers anymore? Had she already passed it on to her son? Also note that Emily has a poster on her wall for "The Lemurs" and Andy's mom was selling "Lemurs" tapes at the garage sale. Another link between them. Could Andy's mom be Emily? It would mean that in the end, Jessie found her way home after all.

What I find funny about the toy of the snake in Woody's boot, is that in the swedish dub of Toy Story 1, Woody says "I got a rattle snake in the boot." and the snake actually is a rattle snake. Don't know if John Lasseter and Co were aware of this when they did it or it was just a mere coincidence but it feels more likely with the latter.

Great reaction I love the outtakes too. I have the Blu-ray in of this movie and in the extras. It shows that Woody’s mom is Jesse‘s old owner, but they never bring it up in the movie. The one of the reason that Andy his parents got together because Andy’s dad loved Woody and she had Jesse. She wish she could get her back because Woody was Andy’s dad‘s favorite toy as a kid. Thanks for the fun until next time. 😮 and why did she never notice? Why didn’t they bring it up

A while back, I read a fan theory that "Emily" is actually Andy's Mom. If you look at the hat that Andy wears, it looks more like Jessie's than Woody's. Like it's a hand-me-down from his mother.

For the versions outside of the US, a different TV sign-off was used with a spinning globe wih fireworks around it. The theme that is used is One World Atnthem made by Randy Newman who composed the music for all four Toy Story movies, A Bug's Life, Monsters, Inc. and Uniserity, Cars 1 and 3.
