mike watts however Reaper 1 is right about one thing. You can’t just play it anytime of the year. It would have to be if the Steelers went to the Super Bowl or something like that so it would mean something to the audience especially the older audience who saw Joe Greene play and this commercial air for the first time.

"Hey Kid, Catch!" was a television commercial for Coca-Cola starring Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle "Mean" Joe Greene. The commercial debuted on October 1, 1979, and was re-aired multiple times, most notably during Super Bowl XIV in 1980. The 60-second commercial won a Clio Award for being one of the best television commercials of 1979.

It was a different era....a time before the rise of the Nanny State. Seat-belts were for pussies. Kids rode around in the back of open pickup trucks. Bicycle helmets were virtually unknown. Kids played with metal lawn darts that could actually kill them. High schools had a "smoking lounge", for students. Doctors smoked cigarettes right INSIDE their offices. Toys were coated in lead paint. Parents didn't have to worry about being arrested for "child neglect", just because their parents let them play outside alone & unattended. Men used the Men's room & women used the lady's room, period. "Singers" didn't rely on "auto-tune", etc, & so on. TV stations "signed off" at around midnight-2am. It was a great time. People who didn't live in that era, don't really understand the true meaning of "Freedom & Liberty"

I had a spin welder! It was a toy welder! It used a heat gun to weld plastic and you could build a car with it. The welder plugged into the wall socket and it would burn you if mishandled. I think I was 8 when I got that. I am a child of the 70's and it was AWESOME! Summer vacations were time well spent. Tan with scabbed knees and elbows. Every house in the neighborhood had a mom home and she would give you a band-aid or kool-aid or both. Divorce went up 300 percent back then. I watched all the dads get kicked out. It was the start of what we have today.

I live in Cincinnati and went down to the Bengals practice game a few months ago. There is an area where the team walks across the street to get into the stadium. Signs posted on fence rails telling fans not to speak to players. This 8 year old said hello to Joe Burrows from about 10 ft away. Joe turned and threw him his towel. Magical. Thanks Joe. The 5 of us standing there will never forget that.
