Would be way cooler if the mentos were in some sort of dissolving membrane to allow time for soda to be introduced and valve stem to be reinstalled before initial reaction.

I think that one bottle should have been enough. There's a reason that nitogeon is often used to fill car tyres as opposed to carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide is the gas that's released when mentors are introduced to coka cola. This gas isn't produced though it was already prescent though trapped within the coke mixture as with any carbonated drink. Carbon dioxide is a heavy gas relatively, which is its first drawback and the second is that its pressure or volume is greatly dependant upon ambient temperature to a greater degree than many other gasses so its to unstable in this respect for filling car tyres whereas nitogeon is much more stable and inert.

I'm confused about how you are putting the cola in the tire using a plastic tube with nothing on the end to depress the valve of the tire stem. I get you removed what looks like the plunger to depress the valve, but if the valve is now shut how is the cola getting into the tire? How is the air not escaping? Or is it that there's so little air pressure in the tire that the pressure of the cola is opening the valve?

The valve core is what let air in and out of tire. With it out it is an open port to the inside of the tire and rim. With air in tire when you take the core out ... the air will blast out.

You missed the part where they drove the Mentos tire over 20 kilometers and ran it over cinderblocks, and that it only burst because they cut it with a rotary saw, but sure.

You should have checked the tire pressure with a gauge to see how high it was. I bet if you used a higher Mentos/Coke ratio you could have made that sucker explode on its own.

@near sighted time traveler Actually, pressure does not fluctuate by hitting bumps. When going over bumps, the tire will squash (deform) but it will not be compressed (changed in volume). So essentially, when the tire hits a bump the tread is deformed inward and the sidewalls are pushed outward thereby keeping the volume intact. If you're not convinced then the next time you rotate your tires, measure the air pressure with and without the tire on the car.

Ниппель он открутил, давления значит не было. Потом кола стекала вниз, и чаще всего не самотеком, а надавливал на бутылку. А когда отпускал - из колеса в бутылку обратно попадал воздух, там видно пузырьки на 2:24

Better make a compartiment where the mentos is stored in the tire an than pour the rest of the tire full of coke so that they will first make contact when the tire is closed and starts spinning. I think now you lose presure as you are filling up the tire with mentos allready in contact with coke.

I think you gimmicked this somehow. Everything I know about Coke and Mentos tells me that the reaction should have started nearly immediately and caused the Coke to start blowing out the valve core before you could possibly have gotten all 2.5 gallons of Coke in the tire.

I believe the position of the valve at the top would have given some small time advantage. Additionally, I did see a decent amount of foam coming up the tubing at one point. However, he was keeping the tubing above the point of entry, and the liquid being squeezed in would have pushed the foam back down.

As i thought. As reactive is mentos to the cola. It won't be enough to blow up the tire. The pressure may not even reach 100 psi and that is way below failure of any tyre out there.

It's a physical reaction not a chemical reaction. You're not producing CO2 you're just getting it out of the coke faster

@@freedomaintfree1030 liquid isn't compressible. Let me explain it as a pressurized vessel vs an open one. In an open one, what's happening is there are nucleation points on the mento and you're able to get the gas out of the liquid faster. Those small bubbles expand and take liquid with them as it all rushes out to the outside. In a pressurized area though, the gas is only gonna come out of suspension till it reaches equilibrium. Take a coke bottle and open it. The hiss is the gas escaping. Closing the bottle and then opening it will do nothing. Closing it and waiting will repressurize. Similarly closing it after opening it and shaking it will get it to the same pressure as it was before until there's no more gas dissolved in the liquid. All a mento is doing is releasing the gas dissolved in the liquid faster than it otherwise would be

I don’t get how he could put all that coke in there and nothing happened before he could put back the valve core 🤔 The mixture should’ve prayed out by the time he was pouring the first bottle.

I'm skeptical about this too. I think the reaction of mentos and coke is too fast for it to build up any pressure in the tire. All the air should've escaped the tire before he had time to put the valve stem back on. Even if he could build up enough pressure with the reaction, I would think it would blow the rubber hose right off the tire value considering it wasn't fixed with cable ties or hose clamps. I think what he actually did was put extra air pressure in the tire after putting mentos in to make it look like the mentos built up pressure.

I also think that if he could generate enough pressure it would eventually force the coke back into the bottle. Squeezing the coke bottle would not generate enough pressure to counteract the force of the air pressure in the tire pressure if lets say even 20 or 30 psi was built up.
